My LCD moniter is off on custom settings on D70 Nikon. I can't take a photo unless I look through the viewfinder. I can't figure out how to turn the moniter back on. When I go to custom settings the monitor is set to 20 seconds but at the top it says it is turned off. Help!

The shutter remains closed on a DSLR until you take a picture. There is no way to preview an image that does not exist yet.

When I turn on my canon sx30is, the lcd screen is not coming on. When I click to view the pictures it comes on, but is not on while I am taking pictures. Can you please help me fix this?

Sorry this might not help, but maybe that's how its should be some cameras with lcd screens only work when viewing pictures. As longs if you can still take pictures and view them what's the difference, this doesn't seem to be to serious but if you are curious about it maybe surf the internet and find some information on the model this could help, if not then I'm sorry I can't help but I wish all the best :)

The D40 works the same way SLRs have worked for the past half century. Only recently have dSLRs acquired a "Live-View" capability, where you see the image on the LCD monitor instead of through the viewfinder.

I realize this probably wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but that's the way it is.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

Black LCD monitor on Powershot S410

that is not a malfunction, if the "display" button is pressed, the LCD turns off, (black), but if the mode switch is rotated to movie or panorama, it comes back on but will go black again if switched into the other 2 modes. when in one of the 2 modes that show black, simply press "display" and the LCD will come back on.

FYI "GURU", the CCD malfunction manifests as a purple colored screen with various levels of distortion, not black

LCD on - view image prior to taking photo

The feature you are referring to is called "Live View mode".

This is NOT available on the Nikon D80, and was only introduced on the D90, which is available now.

Live View mode allows you to use the LCD screen as your view finder instead of using the eyepiece, but unfortunately, this feature is not available in your model.

How to view in the LCD monitor when taking picture.

Unfortunately with this camera it does not have a live view LCD screen. You will need to shoot all images with the viewfinder and then use the LCD to review them.

D70s lcd screen is black

The D70S is a SLR (single lens reflex). You cannot use the LCD for taking pictures like the small compact digital cameras. There is no way for the CCD sensor to have any image prior to taking since it is behind the mirror and the shutter is closed.

No picture in the image screen

I suspect that you're looking for a "live view", like in the point & shoot cameras. Most DSLRs (like the Nikon D50) don't have live view. In other words, in order to see the picture you must take it first.
