Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions

1 Answer

Picture spins Hey firstly thanks for having this site... Our TV shows a picture, but it is spinning vertically, just like the good old days. :( It also has a very slow spin in the horizontal picture. Now years ago we could adjust this, but what do we do these days with modern technology? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Rick

You cant adjust it is synced to the 60cycle of house current.

the cheapest you can try it to replace the HOT (horizontal output transistor ) its cheap and easy to get ,
its on a large heatsink near the HV flyback.

but it is work and not an easy job for some.
dangerous for some too.
they flyback can be leaking too or other caps around the HOT is the issue and the fix won't or may not last .
there are kits available on sites even on ebay for these fixes.

Hi,
This is CRT 32 inch tv and most probably horizontal/ vertical deflection section got problem that is why tv wont show picture.
Problem could be dry/ cold solder joints/ connections or vertical output chip failure, visual check by professional is required to get it repaired. It is not bulb problem in this tv because it wont has any bulb.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Picture junping

You possibly have a cracked solder joint in the vertical circuit, possible the vertical Ic itself. You'll have to remove the board and look carefully at the soldered connection of the vertical circuit and see if any are ring cracked. Some soldering should fix the problem. If you let the problem go too long the heat these cracks generate will eventaully short the vertical Ic..

civilman, the first set has either no high voltage or is collapsed vertically, until someone checks for high voltage there is no concrete answer, the AV27730 is vertical collapse from your description, either the voltage to the vertical IC is missing or the vertical IC has failed, not a big deal cost-wise, hope this answers your questions, if not e-mail me back, good luck, BMW Rider

You likely have an elevtrlytic capacitor bad on the B+ line to the vertical ouput ic. If you continue to use the set like this it is likely the vertical ouput ic will fail.

Vertical rolling

Does you set have PIP (picture in picture)? If it does then the PIP module has a bunch of capacitors that have gone bad (dried out and leaked) causing you to loose vertical sync. Vertical synchronization is what locks your picture keeping it from rolling. Even if you don't have PIP then still you have a vertical sync problem. The set would have to be checked by a tech to find exactly what's happening. Stargazer

Horizontal roll on mitusbishi 35" tv

is this a horizontal black line going up or down? if yes, this sympton is caused by a trouble in the integrated circuit or in the vertical oscillator circuit. this symptons has 2 variations. one is the intermittent rolling of the picture. this referred to as the "loose vertical hold" the other variations is the continuous upward or downward rolling of the picture
