Question about Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Dyson not working

Was just using my vacuum and it stopped working. no funny noise to warn me something was wrong, it was like it had just been turned off. Had same problem...but if you go through the entire system, usually some small piece is blocking the airflow. Can be very small and typically in the elbow pipe on the underside. Just make sure everything is free. Mine started working once I cleared this small little plastic piece.

Mine had the exact same problem. Just shut down mid-push. I read your answer, took it apart (very easy, no tool required) and took out some clog. Now it is perfect!! Thanks!

My Dyson just shut off in mid push and I've cleaned out the elbow and washed the filter but still no luck.

SOURCE: dyson not working

I suggest you check the hepa filter for black soot. If it is black and yucky then the motor is probably burnt out. Check out the guide at www.tasweb.org for instructions on how to fix it.

SOURCE: Cannot reinstall valve pipe assembly on Dyson dc17 vacuum

Take off the cyclone canister and flip open the filter cover. (The U-shaped tube at the bottom of the vacuum is probably already off-if not, release the lock with a screwdriver and remove it.) Release the vacuum from the upright positon, so that the head is extended. Align the value pipe assembly so that the clear tabs line up while the small extension off the value pipe faces the front of the vacuum (ie, is near the filter area). Now you have to carefully twist the value pipe clockwise while lining us the small extension with the black groove inside the head piece by moving the head back into the upright positon at the same time. Replace the U-shaped tube.

Why is my DC24 not working

You may have an object caught between the belt and brush roll.
Remove brush roll cover and see if that is the case.

Dyson will not switch on

Usual problem is the fuse in the plug. Check the fuse first. If this fails then your problem is either the Switch (Unlikley) or the Motor. Its unlikely the motor would break without warning though. If you have had any burning smells or funny noises recently then its the Motor.

If there are no Smells then im confident its only a case of changing the fuse. Quite common for the fuse to go.

When in carpet mode, brushes seem to be hitting something. Brushes cleaned - how to stop making the awful noise

LOL do you mean when you move the vacuum forward (say into a baseboard)? it makes the loud shocking noise.. i hate that too.. but that's the crazy Warning sound indicating something is stuck (like you sucked up an area rug) or you have run into something and it set off a sensor.
