Hi, I have a Laptop Acer with a Hitachi hard drive, HTS541612J9SA00 a 120 GB, my brother inserted a flash memory and when he tried to check for viruses, the computer get frozen and then it was impossible to get access to the hard drive. I have all my information there, all my finished jobs inside, please help me!

Maybe if you can format the disk-but you loose data, maybe there is a program that can do it, probably in linux, or bootable itself, maybe ask acer for master password or something, if you still own original laptop and it runs then try to remove disk encryption while the hdd is accessible with laptop (i think its in bios), otherwise the hdd may be unusable to prevent data theft. you can plug any sata hdd into any sata device if you can hook all the cables, no compatibility issues there. try googling and youtubing for more answers
use the ultimate boot cd to fix hdc
or boot os disk then hit f6 for third party drivers then load mass storage driver for your laptop so replaces the one on the new hard drive. video on ultimate boot cd in link advance to 52:41
To upgrade your laptop, you will have to verify the capacity for upgrade of your laptop.

Based on this information, you can upgrade your memory depending on what type of memory your motherboard supports and how many empty slots for memory does your laptop have.
The hard drive can be upgraded also depending on which hard drives does the BIOS will recognize.
I will suggest to contact ACER and ask for the options and upgrades capacity.

have your hard drive tested for errors you may use HD-tune for your own testing, if it pass the test, you may need to replace your laptop hard drive interface assembly or check your ddr memory for defects also..
Your netbook is trying to boot from your Lan/Ethernet connection since It can find no working hard drive to boot from. This usually means that your hard drive has failed. Also remember that your netbook will try to boot from other drive types including your SD card, USB Memory Stick and even a Magic Jack if you have one inserted in the flash memory slot or USB slot while rebooting the PC. Many people have mistakenly assumed that their Netbook is messed up because they forget to remove all flash and memory sticks before rebooting.
Price actually depends on where you make your purchases, do some research to locate the best price and yes you can upgrade your hard drive and memory, I am unsure of the type of memory your laptop needs however the hard drive you need is a 2.5 inch sata drive
