Question about Refrigerators
Need help getting cover on side by side water/ice in the door (Have Ice but not chilled water) Water valve has been replaced !
Old message, I'm sure you have solved your problem by now, but . . .
IF Amana/Whirlpool conforms to wiring standards (no guarantees), the main AC wires should be white=neutral, black=hot, red=switched line. Of course, they already depart with the use of the brown wire.
You should be able to access the 'full' switch at the ice maker itself and as you have found, it will turn on (or off) the fill solenoid.
It would be kind to post back what you found as it might benefit others in the future.

I had the same problem and discovered that the water control valve was not shutting off completely between cycles. The water seeping through the valve was freezing in the water inlet tube. I replaced the water control valve for the icemaker and solved the problem.

Its time for a new filter, the water filter will be in the upper right hand section of the freshfood section, or in the kickplate at the bottom
