Question about JVC MX-J50 CD Shelf System

Open Question

JVC MX J50

I have a MX-J50 home shelf system that makes a whirring noise when I activate the panle, but yet works fine except for the dual cassette decks. When I try to engage either side A or Side B of the deck's, Either manualy or by remote, they will not work, but they will make the same whirrring noise! Can anyone offer any assistance or tell me what might be the cause of this problem? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SOURCE: Cassette player works fine, then screeches after 20-30 minutes.

Yeppers very common problem .. If the noise dosent come from the speakers then the problem is in the motor in the cassette deck. if the problem comes from the speakers when the deck is playing a tape, then the problem is in the record/playback switch. you may beable to fix it by spraying just a lttle bit of tuner cleaner inside the switch. It shouldnt cost much to have a repair shop do this as if you spray too much your going to ruin the belts and the mechanism. Good Luck

SOURCE: JVC KD-AVX1 Sirius Just Quit

I had the same problem. My solution was easy, with the car off and deck off find the Sirius connect unit. When you do unplug the large connector. turn the deck on and off once. Then plug the siruis connect back in and turn on your deck. it should work then.

SOURCE: Cd stero wiring help

Hi,

To my knowledge, the illumination wire need not be connected to the JVC KD-G230. Further, other than the 8 speaker wires, the JVC has only:

  • black - body ground;
  • yellow - always on B+12
  • red - ACC/IGN B+12
  • blue w/ white stripe - external amp trigger and/or power antenna
Perhaps this might be of further help to you.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Sound to right speaker goes in and out, mostly out after a few minutes. checked speaker wire connections. they are ok. switched speakers to no avail. Do I have a bad chip or circuit?

there could be a dry soldering joint on the Right Output of the audio chip inside the unit. As the audio chip heats up, it warms the board up aswell and this can warp it causing the sound to cut in and out.

I've had my MX - D301T for about 12 years. We

There are rubber drive parts used in the cassette mechanism, and over time they wear out. Infrequent use can hasten the rubber failure (similar to how a car's tires can go bad if a car sits idle for a long time). An overhaul by a stereo service shop, a good cleaning and replacement of the affected parts, will bring it back to life.

Tapes don't seem to work at all. There is only some noise, but

The tapes use many mechanical parts to have it run. I would advise to have the unit opened and inspect it from the inside. Check if the guides for the magnetic ribbon is moving. It is possible that you are hearing is the motor and it may not be driving the other components.

Cassette player will not work

common fault on the JVC tape decks is the belt stretch and then it does a clicking sound its trying to pick up the audio heads. changing the belt is quite hard if you have`nt done it before.

Buzzing noise

I had the same problem with mine and the fix for it was to replace the Q401 transistor on the main board. I used a NTE382
replacement and has worked fine ever since.
Hope this helps
