GE JTP15 oven shuts off

We have a GE JTP15 built-in oven that has intermittently shuts off during use. It heats up to desired temperature, everything is fine, you put food in to bake, and then wa-la.... without warning it shuts off. No beeping noises or flashing error code as I have read others mention, it just shuts off and has cooled down by the time I realize it's shut off.

We bought this house last summer, and we are under a home warranty with AHS. The first time this happened, I called them and they came out and said there was nothing they can do, because they cannot recreate the problem. Indeed, a month can go by without any problems, and then the problem appears again.

Any advice or suggestions? They would be much appreciated.

Mine was doing the same thing all day today. All I know is when it was cool I lifted up a bit on the lower burner an inch or so, and set it down. Next thing ya know, you guessed, it, it's working again...Not sure what's doing it, will keep checking for a solution.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

This indicates an open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

JTP15 Oven - Shuts down after preheating

It sounds like the module is momentarily losing power when the bake relay clicks off. Does it do the same thing when you use broil?
Post back with the complete model number and I will try to find the wiring diagram for it and we will walk through checking it.
Thanks/Mike

As the oven heats up toward the set temperature,

Usually this is a problem with the temperature sensor or it's wiring. Sometimes this is caused by a failure in the control board. If you eliminate the temperature sensor as being the cause (either by measuring its resistance or by replacing it) and it seems to be the control board, then we can help you with that. We fix control boards at www.fixyourboard.com.

Broiler element comes on when "bake" is pressed

does the bake element come on at all?
if so, try the oven out. do a bake @ 350 allow it to pre-heat, and see if once the pre-heat is comlete, id the broil shuts off.
on many ovens at the beginning of the cycle during pre-heat both bake and broil elements are powered.

other than that it may be a control board, or a burnt and crossed wire in the harness.

GE Model JTP15 oven shows F3 error code

I have the same problem. I noticed that the oven gets to the selected temp ok. Then when the pilot attempts to RELIGHT, it gets the error F3. Did you get a solution? After other posts, I will see if the temp sensor is around 1100 ohm as suggested by others. Ken
