It could be the lid switch but i need little more detail cause in between cycles its supposed to start and stop

to test washer completely empty run threw cycle write down on paper what the cycle does starts and stops
starting and stoping inbetween cycles has a 10 to 30 second delay to next section of cycle

My smartdrive pride lid came off and I fixed it but now the machine won't work, any suggestions please?

Possible that the lid switch alignment is not proper and so does not activate when the lid is closed. Please reset this lid once again and check the switch continuity with a meter when the lid is shut

Calypso has unbalanced "L5" message

LS is a "Lid Switch Error"

The control should flash this error code if it cannot detect the lid switch opening and closing properly. This error code may also be used if there is a disagreement between the motor and machine controllers on the stat if the lid switch. The control should not allow the unit to run in this condition.
This code will also appear if the user presses the START key while the lid is open.
Open the lid or press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display. If opening the lid or pressing STOP/CANCEL does not clear it, unplug your washer for 5 minutes.
Here is a link to a PDF manual for it also.

When you push the start button it beeps but nothing happens. F&P pride is model

HI Richard sounds like your LID SWITCH is faulty.Turn the machine off at the wall and remove the 2 screws at the back of the top panel. Now gently lift the panel and rest it on the lid.It still has the display module wires attached. Now look to the right hand side of the computer and you will see a blue and black pair of wires leading under the hob and connected with another pair of wires that go under the computer. The blue and black wires are your lid switch wires. When the lid is closed they should have conductivity between them.Have you got or can borrow a multimeter to test the reed switch? If you have conductivity between the 2 wires then the machine will work when you push the start button but if the 2 wires do not have conductivity between them then the machine will only beep.Does the machine do nothing even on the spin cycle? Please reply on additional information and how you would like to proceed.Looking forward to your reply.

it could be a reed switch (lid sensor) located under right hand side of hob under lid ...this may solve your problem

The door on my washing machine got stuck, now ive opened it,it will not work as it blows the fuse in the plug and main box,its an old washer,is it worth having it repaired thanx

i am suspecting its the little safety switch which is activated by the lid, when opened it shuts off the machine, during spin and some models anytime. look for this switch, i think it is damaged and shorting out. look for it where lid makes contact with washer. it is an inexpensive part.

Kenmore series 70 washer won't stop agitating when lid Is lifted.

I have a Series 80 and when I lift the lid it does not stop aggitating when in wash mode. When I lift the lid it does stop spinning when in rinse mode. As designed.

To stop wash-mode aggitation at lid-lift, using the existing lid switch and other electrical components, is not easy and not recommended. I can think of a way to do it (triple-pole lid switch) but I will not detail the idea .. for safety concerns.

To stop aggitation, simply use the main settings dial control. You'll save money and possibly prevent a fire hazard!

Does not drain all of water out unless you raise the lid during spin cycle

This is sometimes the coupler, sometimes timer has shorted out.

Don't start

It doesn't work at all If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these:

No power
Lid switch
No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?

Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.
