Can't download Itunes software required to Dell XP400 Windows 2007

I cannot load the Itunes software required to operate my shuffle. It won't let me download Java either and is needed to load lime wire

    When I try to load Jave Runtime Enviroment I get "Installer, package not open, verify package exists & you can access it or contact application vendor to verify it is valid Windows Installer package". I bought Ipod SHuffle and when I try to download itunes start up I get "Not at Valid Windows installer package"- Windows XP with 2007 Microsoft office enterprise. I cannot seem to load any version of Java. I checked and I currently have in my programs Java 1.4.3 update_2

    Please helpe me i have apple ipod bit still it is not working . first ipod added monitor ,i instaled songes after sfe remove my ipod and then play the ipod but not working. what is the problem?

    What OS are you using? Macintosh? Windows? If you are using Windows Vista, go to the Apple website to get the most recent version of the software. What error msg are you getting when you try to load Java? If you have any type of Windows-based system, you should be able to load SOME version of Java.

I cant download itunes because it pops out something about the "current security settings" and i did that so i can download itunes. but when i tried it it still wont work. i need help. the only thing i have is limewire. i need help! :(

If you have Windows 95/98/ME/2000, install Windows Installer 2.0

If you have XP or higher, install Windows Installer 3.1 - you might have had some computer geek friend uninstall Windows Installer 3.1, thinking they were "helping" you, or your computer never came with it in the first place.

Ipod is not recognized by itunes. it wont play or charge it just blinks 4 times when i plug it in
  1. The iPod reset utility will reset your iPod shuffle back to it's factory settings. It works for the following shuffles: iPod shuffle (1st Generation) - iPod Software version 1.1.5, iPod shuffle (2nd Generation) - iPod Software version 1.0.3
    The reset utility will fix the following issues.
    1. The iPod won't play music and can't be restored using iTunes
    2. iTunes won't see the iPod but you can see it under "My Computer" in windows or under Apple System Profiler on a Mac.
    3. iPod shuffle (1st Generation) is identified as a device in "Recovery mode." iPod shuffle (2nd Generation) is identified as a "USB DFU device."
  2. You have to have administrator privileges to run the restore software and it will wipe out all the information on the iPod (including all your music) and install factory software back onto it.
    System requirements are Mac OS X 10.3.9, or later, Win2k with sp4, Win XP, this won't work on Vista.

  3. Install the software onto your computer, plug your iPod into the USB port and run the reset program, it will ask for your permission to reset the iPod, answer yes and the process will proceed. My windows vista does not recognise my usb ipod shuffle.......?! it was fine before.tried the 5steps...the pc still does not reconginise it.
In 1 line:uninstalled the iPod firmware updater program and iTunes. Get a fresh download of the firmware app and iTunes .Try installing iTunes 4.7.1
Steps:
remove the iTunes software and iPod drivers, make sure the iPod isn't connected. Restart the computer and reinstall the software again.

When you log in, load up iTunes (wait till it's fully opened and not in a busy state)
Get a fresh download of the firmware app and iTunes .Try installing iTunes 4.7.1
Then connect your iPod.

It appears that you are using Windows 98 as your operating system, if this is the case it is not compatible with the newer Ipod software. The new Ipod's require at least Windows XP service pack 2, Vista, or newest Mac software. You should do a restore:

How to restore iPod shuffle
  1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer.
  2. Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed.
  3. Open iTunes, and then connect iPod shuffle to your computer.
  4. After a few moments, it will appear in the Source pane in iTunes.
  5. Select your iPod shuffle in the Source pane and you will see information about it appear in the Settings tab of the main iTunes windows
  6. The Version section tells you whether iPod shuffle is up to date or needs a newer version of the software.
  7. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
    • Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
    • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
    • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
    • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
  9. If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.
  10. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will present a message instructing you to leave iPod shuffle connected to computer to complete restore process.
  11. During the stage 2 of the restore process, a green LED will flash once on iPod shuffle, then amber and green LEDs will flash briefly, and finally the amber LED will begin to flash continuously. It is critical that the iPod shuffle remains connected to the computer during this stage.
  12. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete, the iPod Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

You should just download a copy of iTunes from apple.com for your operating system and then install it. Then you just plug your shuffle in and follow the instructions.
