I have a Philips 170B4 monitor. It flashes on the goes blank when starting the computer or turning the monitor power off and on. The image doesn't stay on the screen long enough to use the monitor's on-screen menu to reset the monitor and there doesn't seem to be a way to reset it from another computer. All the connections are solid. Any ideas? The posted solution doesn't help.

I just bought an HP LP1965 (used) and it does the same thing.

I have tried two computers, a third seperate graphics card, both of the monitors DVI inputs and two different cables, all with the same result.

The screen comes up for about two seconds then drops out. If I press the 'auto' button, it comes back on for another 2 seconds then drops out again.

Very annoying so any help (other than sending it back to HP) would be welcome :)

I have the exact same problem on two Dell LCD monitors - a 19" and a 21". Both went out within a day of each other. Changed computers, video cards, changed from DVI to Analogue - nothing fixes it. Probably FUBAR'd.

If it works as your first monitor, then it is either the cable/connection issue or the graphics software is not seeing it correctly or the second graphics card is not in correct or a combination somewhere.
You will need to do a bit of fault analysis to determine what is causing the issue.

My monitor slows down

Sounds like an issue with you PC not the monitor.

Try updating your display/graphics card drivers.

LG flatron w2230s-pf monitor only displays for 3 seconds, then the screen goes black. power is still on, and you can very faintly see the image. if you turn it off and on again, it will display correctly...

The problem is in the inverter board, the most common problem is bad capacitors, inverter transformers, or back light issues. The power supply and inverter share the same board, attempts can be made to repair or replace the board, if a professional gets involved you are further ahead in buying new.

Change out C202- 680 uF 25 Volt electrolytic capacitor. Replace with 25 volt or higher. Observe proper polarity when replacing cap: (-) goes to the side with the black mark, check old cap before removing it to see. I just fixed the same monitor today.
