If you are running windows, you might have to re-install your operating system, if that doesn't work, you might be having a bad system board and or memory.

Toshiba satellite laptop won't wake up from hibernation even after holding power botton down?!

If pressing down and holding the restart/start button doesn't wake it up you might try Control + ALT + DELETE keys (together) - that will reboot it though. And if that won't work then you might have to pull the battery to reset it.

It seems that some laptops have a problem with vista and sleep mode, in particular, and sometimes hibernate too. You can try going under POWER OPTIONS under Control Panel and setting everything back to default, saving it, then resetting it again. Also it's best to avoid using sleep mode if possible to avoid problems.

If the problem developed after a recent install or updating you may need to go to an older store point to fix the problem. Personally, I just avoid using these settings as much as possible and use regular shut down and a screen saver for times when I need to step away from laptop for short periods of time.

Backlight wont turn on I have a MC218

If you have a very dim display, or no backlight it could be due to a few things. A loose LCD cable could cause the problem, a very basic way to test this would be to apply pressure to various parts of the laptop case and screen bezel, also move the screen and see if a backlight ever powers on. If you are comfortable opening your laptop to check connections then do so. A faulty cable is also a possibility. Sometimes it is a software issue, try turning your display brightness up to max, does the backlight illuminate when in BIOS? If so it is a software problem. Finally it could be a failed LCD inverter, this is a bit of hardware usually separate from the LCD although is sometimes built onto it. These are generally easy and reasonably cheap to replace.
Hope this helps,
www.PuterCare.com
Screen dim HP pavilion dv1000

The lid actuator switch may not be working correctly. It's a small switch above the keyboard and led's on either the right or left side. Try pressing it 2 or 3 times to see if the display starts working correctly again. If so, it will need to be replaced.

If that doesn't work, you can also turn it on with the ac adapter plugged in. After it boots, press the power button and hold it in until it shuts off and then turn it on again and see if the display has returned to normal.

If neither of these options work, your laptop may need to have the backlight replaced.

HP pavilion notebook screen turns black after flickering

You most likely have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :-
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

 • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
 • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
 • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
 • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

I think you are having problem with backlight. The concept of laptop is that if there is problem with backlight then it will try to shut it down(shut the light down). If you restart your laptop ,that mean you turn the light on again...after that if its blink or something wrong then again your system will try to shut it down to prevent other part get spoil.

What you have to do is..
1.problem from backlight replace backlight
2.problem from inverter replace inverter
3.problem from motherchip...repair motherboard.
