Unplug the shredder and check the shredding blades to be sure they are not jammed with paper. If paper is stuck in the blades, it will not function to add more paper to the jam. It WILL work in reverse to remove it's jam. Also make certain the blades have not been bent by discs, credit cards, or thick amounts of paper. If all looks well, blades are straight and not clogged with paper, be sure the door (if you have this type of machine) is closed properly. If not of this helps it run, you might need to have a professional look at it OR it might be time for a new shredder.

I purchased Shredder Model BD-S600 on 5/6/11. This was to replace another Black & Decker Shredder that I had for only a few months also. Today, when i attempted to turn shredder on to shred some...

If it's like my BD-S600 your motor is already burned out!! Same thing happened to me with this shredder after 3 months of minimal home use. I had to call them and pay $13 to send shredder back to them to have a new one sent to me, and I have already been on the phone with customer service due to problems with the new one after 5 minutes of use! Good luck to you; I know I will NEVER purchase a Black and Decker shredder again! My last shredder (a Brother) lasted 8 years with no problems and I really miss it!!

I tried to shred a credit card and it will not go in reverse or forward. What tool do I use to take the cover off to remove it.

First of all, unplug the shredder. You could use either option, try the first one, first.

1) Unwind a metal paper clip and use those and tweezers to pull the shards out of the tines of the shredder.

2) The Dollar store sells a little set of screwdrivers for $1. There are some in the set that are very thin and will fit into the hole to unscrew the screws.

Our shredder (Wilson Jones 1200) now has a very high pitched squeak when we shred anything. Really high pitched. We can't see if there's anything stuck (ie a staple) Is there a number we can call for...

https://www.wilsonjones.com/us/us/2723/contact-us
* First, I'm not a Wilson Jones tech.*
*** the following are for information only. ***
* Our friend keeps dropping off shreader after some problem with them. She always buys a new (different) one and leaves the junk to tinker with. These are some of the common problems I've encountered.
* Not moving. Totally jammed with paper! I had to use a blunt tool to back out the wheels. Careful as the blades are very sharp! It's best to use a wooden dowel to edge the blades back in the direction to loosen the stuck paper (be sure to unplug shreader!)
* Cracked case or inner frame. If it cracked under normal use then there is a design flaw or something fell on it. Only a complete swap out of equip will work as any glued on plastic parts will break again under load.
* Sensor is knocked off or damaged. Again, too much paper. Replace unit.
* Squeeks are caused by paper, staples, plastic (CDs) getting caught between the wheels and comb. Reversing helps, but some have to be physically removed. Again, unplug and check for the stuck debris. Remove with tweezer or needle nose plier. Careful of sharp blades!
* Squeeks will usually stop after a time as you continue to use the shreader. Debris will wear out and drop. Just keep in mind that whatever was shreaded when the squeeking started. That item should be avoided and only shreaded in small quantities at a time, alterating between regular paper.
* Check with the MFR if there is a lubricant, spray that is required. I use silicone spray sometimes when I have a lot of shreading to do. (Check with MFR)
* Final; Commercial shreaders tend to be large enough to get your hand or clothing stuck in the machine. Call for service to be safe.

Usually paper shredders reverse because the documents being shredded might be too thick

Shredder will go into reverse but not forward

If this is like my elecrtical paper shredder the solution is to unplug so it cannot shred you and then take any squashed up pieces of paper out of the cutters on the inside of the machine. I have to unblock my machine after every 50 or so pieces of paper I shred.

Push start button vaccumm won't turn on

I had a problem with my switch not working. The cheesy microswitch has a little nub on the back that breaks off. They kind of work like a ball point pen. I noticed that if I held my thumb against the back of the microswitch, it would click on and off.

Disassembly:
First, unplug the machine and disassemble the switch housing. There is a screw in the front. It takes a no. 10 Torx driver to remove it.
On the back there appears to be two little tabs that need to be pulled out. Don't mess with them! They are there to fool you. Instead, with a flat tip screwdriver, reach down past the tabs and pry inward (the handle of the screwdriver moves outward, the tip prys inward).
On the front is a little tab that needs to be gently pryed down. The unit should slide out.
With your thumb against the back of the switch, press the button. If it seems to be staying down on one stroke and popping up on the next, continue reading. Otherwise, you may need a new switch.

Now for the fix/jury rig:
With the plastic housing set aside. Put all the wiring and switch in it's place on the vacuum. The switch has grooves that allow it to slide onto the vacuum. Everything should go in neatly.
What you need is a thin piece of wood or plastic, about 3/4" long and 1/2" wide (a popsicle stick would probably work). Slide it between the bottom of the switch and the molded plastic on the vacuum. Make sure it is snug. Try the switch. It should be working now.

Now carefully slide the housing back on. I like to depress the switch first. Make sure the housing snaps back on. It takes a bit of force, but it should slide fairly easily right up to near the vacuum's face. If not you may want to make sure you're not interferring with any wires etc.

Good luck,
bentod

It could be in reverse do you have any tips

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. the Hoover Model # F8515 works on the pull back to pickup the water and on the push forward you can dispense extra water or solution and the brushes will still scrub but on the pull back it dispenses, scrubs and also picks up the water all in one sweep, if not then contact you local vacuum dealer in your area, check the owner’s manual for the trouble shooting guide and or call the Hoover Factory cust serv @ the information listed below.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
