Question about Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Digital Speaker System Computer Speakers

2 Answers

Operating with/without the control panel

Hi, I am working cleaning up dorms at my college, and you're allowed to loot whatever people leave behind.  I found a Logitech Z-5500 Digital set and I got to keep it.  The only problem is, the control panel wasn't with it.  Is there any way to make connections to a computer or an iPod without the control panel?  Could I buy a certain connector?  Can I buy the control panel separately?  The set came with 7 logitech speakers, red and black wires for each speaker, 3-cable connectors that are green, orange, and black.  What should I do?

You could try hooking them up to another speaker that has the input connections. I have done this before with several different speakers and daisy chained the connections with several speaker connections and they worked great. I had surround sound all over the room. You might run into a problem with the main speaker that you plug into not being able to push all of the speakers that you have but you might get lucky. Those speakers say that that carry 550 watts.
I recently bought a set of speakers that stated that they push 100 watts. The sub was putting out 50 watts and the others were only putting out 25 each. I hooked up a 100 watt speaker to it and it worked. You might be able to contact logitech to get the other speaker that you need. That set of speakers looks awesome on the site. This is the specs for the other speakers

I think that this is what you wanted to know. If it was not your solution, let me know. I will help you more. I might not be understanding your question correct. I have referred your question to someone on the site that works with logitech.

The logitech person told me that you can not buy just one speaker from them. He suggested looking on Ebay.
He also suggested the same thing that I told you to try.

Are you still having this problem? Did my answer solve your problem?

One of the jbl creature speakers doesn't work

I had the same problem one time and it was a loose connection in the speaker. I will work on any computer but I stay away from anything else. :-) A buddy opened her up and fixed her for me. If it is new, think about taking it back to the store. Thank goodness the prices have come down so much that I am considering getting Bose instead and blasting myself onto the wall behind me. :-)

Hi! It seems that your problem is in your computer system setting. You have to install the audio device DRIVER and install it. After that, problem solve. Good luck, THANKS

No Sound from speakers

Is everything in this equation new and never worked right? That opens up endless possibilities for what the problem might be, but improper setup is most likely.

Assuming you have one of the variants of Windows:

Try going into the Control Panel.
Find the icon for Sounds and Audio Devices, under the Volume Tab see if Mute is checked. UNcheck it.
Also look at the Device Volume slider to make sure the volume isn't all the way down. I leave mine on HIGH.

The Sounds Tab allows you to assign sounds to certain events, like email notifications.

Same problem - Solved! Thanks Guys! I have Vista so the procedure was a little different. I went to Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Manage audio devices. Once there I disabled the multimedia device and defaulted to the speakers which makes me fully operational again. Now I can crank Tequila! by the Champs.

I'm sure you went to Control Panel, opened device manager, and and checkeck for any yellow checks for your
sound, video and game controllers. If there are none, your system is go. Then go to your audio manager on control panel, and set it up for whatever speaker configuration you have. I have realtec audio manager. This step is a must for configuring—you choose whether your laptop will use its own speaks or use your external speakers—you have to turn off the internal speakers and turn on the external. Did you forget?
