Sorry for the delay . . . My fiancee and I have been moving to a new home.

No, my parents' monitor still acts up but only when it's hot and humid out. I'm thinking it may be a video card problem because recently the video card on my own PC started doing this, except for me I get verticle lines and odd squiggles as well as horizontal lines that actually interfere with the display . . . I ordered a new video card. My parents computer has an Nvidia mine has an ATI Radeon 9800. Mine is rather old which is why I opted for a new one. There's is rather low-end, but only a year and a half old. Their problem, however, isn't as severe as mine and mine happens at other occasions other than humid and hot weather. It is rather loose in the AGP slot (looser than it should be anyways) and I think it's overheating. We tried plugging a monitor we know to be working fine in and the same thing happened, so I know it's the video card for mine. I also tried updating the drivers to no avail. I haven't tried putting a different monitor on my parents' but the next time I'm there while it's happening, I will try that to see.

Thanks for your help, however! Will write back if I discover the problem to be the video card for my parents' PC.

Keeps underlining in red when using ms word

One thing you probably will have noticed is the spelling mistakes in the letter. You should have typed the letter exactly as it was, and left any spelling errors in. More than likely, the spelling mistakes are underlined in red in your document. Anything with a wiggly green line under it is a grammatical error, (or what Microsoft Word insists is a grammatical error). You can turn these off and on if you like. To Turn the wiggly red and green lines on and off, do the following.

Returns error message :Unknown Disc. Please Check Disc Again" The DVD disc plays on other DVD players with no problem.

Problem may be reset needed, or lens need cleaning, or dvd recoreder worn out. Reset is pull the plug from the wall for 5 minutes. Turn it back on after reset to load firmware again, may work after that.. TDK makes lens cleaner. LG uses fan so, dirt can get into dvd recorder lens. If the tray moves out wiggly, laser assembly may move wiggly too. Replace dvd recorder which is a dvd+-rw regular ide unit from computers.

I have the Acer 5580. It does not seem to be

Sounds like bad news. It's not good to continue using a wiggly port. You'll likely have to have a technician look at it.
