I thimk your problem is that you have sand betwin the lens mechanism and that cause the immediately retract.you can try to apply air pressure near the lens but with care

My camera doesn't shoot anymore.

photo's on the beach, camera obstructed? Could it be you got sand in your camera? Didyou change your lens while on (or near to) the beach? Sand in your shutter can obstruct the shutter in that case the camera has to be cleanded i don't know what the costs are for a cleaning of the body.

Sorry to hear that shivamfc. You are an unfortunate Canon user with the unlucky results of digital camera + sand = dead.

To make the camera to work again, you need to be sure to remove the sand that got inside the lens mechanism, unfortunately that is a serious repair and I don't think it can be done by the user.

Perhaps you can contact the manufacturer to see if they have a good solution for you or at least they are kind enough to provide you a rebate is you have to buy a new one.

Some people having trouble with lens mechanism (in cheaper cameras) are "fixing" this issue banging the camera (as this is already unusable) and a few of them are lucky enough to get it working again.

The first idea that comes to my mind is to use compressed air and try to remove any sand particles but I'm not sure that will fix it, also, the CCD can be damaged trying this.

The best recommendation that I can give to you is to contact the manufacturer for solutions.

Problem with M340 Kodak easy share digital camera..( automaticall

I had the same problem after a day at the beach. What I did was get a can of compressed air (from the computer section) and blow air around the lens as I repeatedly turned it on. It took about five cycles, but I eventually cleared whatever was preventing the lens from fully opening.

Good luck.

Power shuts off on its own

Yes the beach, two of camera worst enemies, water and sand. The camera should be taken apart to check for sand and water damage. Camera that are even exposed to air around salt water will develop problems.

You will not be able to clean out the sand yourself. The sand probably got in to the mechanics of the lens and other moving parts.

The inside of the lens is made like a watch, and is very precision for calibration. Once you open up your camera and especialy the lens, I have doubts it will ever work again!

Servicing the camera may not be cost effective. You can enquire to Casio to see what they would charge for this type of service. I would think it would be more feasible to replace the camera.

If you want to take a camera to a beach, make sure it is in a sealed containment. The water vapour, any salt spray, sand, and or sand dust will certainly cause damage to even the most expensive cameras!

Does it need regular cleaning?

Hi,
'
Sand generally has no effect on the electronic side of the camera, however it will definitely can cause problems with the mechanical aspect of the camera such as the zoom lens. this can be removed with a can of compressed air.

Suntan lotion likewise should not be any problem except for smudges on the housing/casing and especially bad for the lens. Additionally, the lotion would help the sand adhere to crevices and nooks of the camera. Wiping should get you just fine.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
