Motorola router (by 2 users)

posted by buckally on Jun 09, 2008

have a motorola router and motorola modem. All of sudden modem light on router is blinking red and can not connect online. Computer will not pick up signal. Anywhere else i go I can conect. What do I need to do? My red light on my router is flashing and I can't connect to my DSL modem. I have never had this working. I can however talk to the router. It never gets an IP address from the DHCP server. I have changed out cables and tried different types of cables (crossover, straight through, etc.)

Router has Red Blinking Modem light. I've tried everything more than once. DSL is working without the Router connected but when I re-connect the Router... there's the Red Blinking light again... It was working till it got unplugged and I reset it. I found out thru much research..it means in my case.. The WAN connection has lost IP connectivity with it's Default Gateway. I logged into the router's address & looked for WAN options and it states WAN is active?? I clicked on connection repair and gives message as requesting PPP information?? Could someone please help guide me thru what I need to do. I have gathered several IP addresses from the modem, router & XP PC and I have Gateway's & DNS primary # & 2ndry #'s... I've also contacted Tech Support at Motorola... still waiting for a response. Looks like this unit has been discontinued.
Thanks for your help! Lyn leniar57@yahoo.com

Modem light goes RED if No external Ethernet device has been attached and detected OR The Ethernet link is down.
in your case it is going to be the DSL MODEM ....

Second cause could be The WAN interface has been disabled by the firmware.

TO enable it log on to your router's address http://192.168.10.1.

and look for WAN options.
