Hi jeff, here is the list of CPU's that the ECS PT800CE-A motherboard supports. Click on this link:
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Support/CPU_Support_Model.aspx?detailid=423&MenuID=69&LanID=0

Main ECS web page: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?detailid=423&DetailName=New&DetailDesc=&CategoryID=1&MenuID=6&LanID=0

The last CPU on the bottom of the list is the Celeron 2.5GHz.

Good Luck!

usually the drivers on a cd that came with the board. if you don't have the cd, you'll have to go to the board manufacturer's website, if it's an intel board, go to intel.com. if it is asus, go to asustek.com, etc. it should say on the board who makes it, pop the cover and look at it, you will also need to know the model# off the board and what operating system, xp, windows 7, etc., you are installing so you can get the right ones.

I have a mainboard of model D845GVAD2------------------------AAC18931-104. It has already intall the Intel celeron processor of 1.8GHz. Now I want to upgrade my processor. So what high frequency processor...

    Hello,
The Intel® Desktop Board D845GVAD2 supports a single Pentium® 4 processor with a system bus frequency of 400 MHz or 533 MHz, or a single Celeron® processor with a system bus frequency of 400 MHz.

So you can install upto 3.06 GHz 533 MHz(cache memory) processor and also update the ram 2 GB 400 mhz.
    Dont install Prescott processor.
    Hope it will help you.

You can also use any other intel 775 socket processor as well. The dual cores are at the top of the list for performance that are compatible with that board, but if you're looking for a cheaper solution, I have that board with a 3GHz pentium 4 and it runs great. Here's a list of all the processors you can use.
    Intel Pentium 4 (2.66 - 3.80 GHz)
    Intel Celeron D (2.53 - 3.60 GHz )
    Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition
    (3.20 - 3.73 GHz)
    Intel Pentium D (2.66 - 3.60 GHz)
    Intel Pentium Extreme Edition
    (3.20 - 3.73 GHz)
    Pentium Dual-Core (1.40 - 2.80 GHz)
    Intel Core 2 Duo (1.60 - 3.33 GHz)
    Intel Core 2 Extreme (2.66 - 3.20 GHz)
    Intel Core 2 Quad (2.33 - 3.00 GHz)
    Intel Xeon (1.86-3.40 GHz)

compatibility issue only. the 2.4 you replace is it celeron? or P4?. Bus speed check also. if you are using WIN XP OS, you go to control panel, systems, then general check what is the processor type. it will still show 2.0G but running at lower speed. That would confirm incompatible cpu with your board.

    Urgent

are you sure that you have the same zif socket types either a intel celeron or an intel pentium, they are different socket types, but if theres nothing wrong with your other cpu your not going to see any difference in speed, upgrade your memory, but obviously if your other cpu has failed check the socket types and then reset your bios on the motherboard shorting terminals.
