If you format a drive and replace the OS your drivers have to be updated as well.
don't rely on windows to put a generic drive on there.
It will... but it won't be a drive that is more than likely, propriatary. If your MB has on board sound then Foxconn should have provided drivers on a CD with the MB when you bought it.
If not go to their website and check for software driver downloads.
If this does not work purchase an external soundcard and install it That too will have drivers provided.

I have a pantium IV computer I replace my Intel 915G original board with foxconn mother board, but when I format my C drive till then my player shows "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly." message how I can retreave my computer sound pls gide me.
