Belkin wireless notebook card

Help, i just bought a new laptop (new to me) and it came with the Belkin G Plus MIMO Notebook Network Card part # F5D9010. i had to load the software myself since the seller forgot to. anyway, i beleive i have all the correct software, drivers, etc. BUT i just cant connect to the internet. Shouldnt the router light up when i scans or something? how do i know if it even works? i'm currently in a office building which has no other wireless computers around and we dont even have cable here. so is that why i cant connect? you'd think in a large office complex someone would have a wireless connection i could get on?

When i was at the office with no other wireless or cable connections the router did not light up at all. however, when i got home i turned on the computer and it lit up green and showed me i had two network/connections to choose from. so i did get online, for about 20 mins then i lost the connection. would that be because my neighbor (who has the wireless) shut off his computer or went offline?

is that normal for the connection to be broken when the network i'm connected to (my neighbor) shuts down or goes off-line? do i have to know a IP address or do i have to enter passcodes or numbers in somewhere?

thanks, i understand it a bit better now. do i need to be worried about security issues when connecting into someone else's network? can they get into my computer (and vice versa) and is that type of connection safer than what you could connect to at a Starbucks?

If you have installed a wireless device driver, which is a very easy thing and im sure you would have done it perfectly.

when you search for networks or when the device is active it should be green/ blue. If the device is not working or ofline it shows orange / red. (if an indication is available)

The best way is to get into a WIFI range.

I have a laptop alway has green light for WIFI if im connected or not. but when I go on stand by it turns orange .

    yes you are quiet right.

When you get out of range you will know. Signal strength will go weak and then off.

There is no problem with that but your WIFI is working 100% perfect.

.What u can do is try different area of your house and look for a connection with good strength.

    best regards

yes. When the network or signal goes down you will lose connectivity . If the user enable a security password then you cannot enter his network. Look for speedstream or unsecured networks.

If you are not getting WIFI signal strong.

there is an amazing solution on ebay. It WIFI antenna .

you will be more than desired network anywhere in your Office or home. :)

You can reset the router back to the defaults.
Power up the Belkin and press and hold the RESET button for 7 secs.

Code? Do you have any network security enabled? like WPA or WPE? If you do, you'll need a network key in order for you to connect, and you can find that by accesing the adminstrative console of your router, usually, at address http://192.169.2.1. and I am sure you meant 'Belkin' right?

1. If your laptop has a built-in wireless adapter, then you don't need a belkin wireless g plus adapter.
2. You can connect to the Internet using your adapter provided that the location where you at offers wi-fi or wireless connection
3. If you want wireless connectivity at home, then you need to have a wireless router and subscribed for DSL/Cable broadband connections

How do i get an internet connection using belkin wireless g plus mimo notebook card

1) Install the wireless card on your laptop computer (driver)
2) Run wireless utility (windows - Control Panel)
3) Select your wireless network (wireless networks availables) and connect.

If your wireless network have a wep key you need to know that in order to get connected.

To do that you need a wireless router connected to your modem or a wireless modem
Be sure first to have that installed first.
