Push buttons about five times each beforjust to make sure they are not stuck....then......Turn the air conditioner OFF and unplug it. NOTE: The air conditioner must be unplugged for the automatic filter clean timer to reset. Clean the filter. See the Care and Cleaning section in your use and care manual. After cleaning, replace the filter and plug the air conditioner back in.
Other forums say the E1 code is because the AC thinks a button is stuck or because it's dirty, but almost all of them say to use the remote and it'll work ok.
Unfortunately, there's not much you can do. The E1 error code indicates a sensor shutdown. However, you can try turning the unit OFF & unplug it for 15 minute. Then plug it back in and turn it ON. If the electronics reset and reverted back to the original factory setting, you can set the controls as you like.
If you continue to get the E1 error code,, contact Haier Customer Support 1-877-337-3639.

E1 means one of the buttons on the touchpad is pressed in. The remote will still operate the unit. You might have to pull the panel of, and check all the buttons. If all seems fine replace the control board. might not be worth it thou..
