I have a hotpoint ultima extra and the door won't open after the cycle has finished. The door lock light stays on. I have tried turning it off and running another cycle.

SOURCE: Door locking & drum noisy

It sounds as though the main drum bearings are failing, if you spin the drum by hand and it feels rough or sounds niosy, then it is definately the main bearings. there should be little or no noise when you spin the drum by hand.. Re the door lock,I do not think the two problems are related, could be a faulty door lock that is taking too long to release.

If the m/c is under 5 years old, then you should be able to get it put right under Hotpoint 5 year guarantee

You pay for labour, all parts are free, and in your case the cost of parts, would in excess of £100.00
So it would be worth a phone call to Hotpoint to confirm if you are covered.

Door stay locked after finished washing hotpoint w/machine ref 9526

See if you notice any water still inside the washing machine, if so run another spin cycle to try and remove it as it will not open if there is still water inside.
If you don't see any water inside, try unplugging it and letting it cool off, the lock should release after this

Unable to open door

Hi,

Remove the top cover, and release the door catch from inside the washer, you will probably need a screwdriver or similar to do do this. You will need to replace the door catch and spring, and possibly the door lock, as it may break when you force the door open.

Thank you !!

Hotpoint Ultima Extra door lock will not unlock at end of cycle

could be a defective door lock. these door locks have resistance within them and with the application of power, bi-metal moves and lock the doors.

test it again by using the unit and after 10 mins and the door won't un-lock , try to knock the door switch a little bit and see if it would unlock. if it does, then it is the door lock. it is getting sticky.

Hotpoint Ultima extra WD72

There are 3 possibilities 1 altough the water as drianed the pressure switch as not released due to blocake in the filter, or the interlock has jammed on the closed position which means it will have to forced open or the last fault could be the power board has gone.
