Question about Roper Refrigerators
You have one of the following problems which is indicated by the frost buildup. Your defrost timer has failed, or defrost heater circuit consisting of a defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Start at the defrost timer. May be located in the fridge compartment near the temperature controls. There may be a recess through which you can turn the dial SLOWLY clockwise until you hear one click. the freezer will be in defrost. Wait 18-22 minutes and the freezer should defrost and restart into cooling. If it does not restart after 30 minutes turn the screw clockwise again one more click and it should restart.
If you had to turn it again to get it to restart the timer is bad and needs to be replaced. If the timer restarted the cooling mode after 18-22 minutes and defrost did not take place your problem is in the heater circuit.
