Very noisy projector, I can see that the noise comes from a broken color wheel. How to pray open my Infocus LP130 to reach to the color wheel an maybe fix it or replace it.

It's been awhile since I worked on one of these, but I believe there are 2 screws on the rear and 2 screws on the bottom that have to be removed. Then there is a slot on the front bezel which if I remember correctly is on the side of the front bezel furthest away from the lens. Stick a small flathead in the slot and slide the release in the slot down. You should see that end release and then pull the front off. Pull the rear off by popping it loose with the flathead. There is no slot for the rear. It just sort of snaps in there between the top and bottom covers. Then unplug the ribbon cable from the board under the top cover and remove the top. Have fun and good luck on the colorwheel. The segments precise and I don't recommend gluing them back in especially if you aren't sure of the sequence. Lastly, it could be hard to find one for this model because the service life for this model ended around 4 or 5 years ago and may no longer be supported. Google Infocus and go to the website and see if you can get one.

InFocus SP5000 - high pitch noise

there isn't a colorwheel in the sp5000. it's an lcd, not a dlp. one of the fans is bad and needs to be replaced. the bearings might be going. you can get parts from an infocus service center or send it to them for repair. try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

InFocus LP130 Projector has intermittent power off

go into the menu to find out the lamp hours. it could be the lamp, but if the projector shuts down and not just the lamp, there is either an overheating issue, or a power supply issue.

Infocus x1 projector

Indeed, the problem you describe is the Color Wheel. Very common issue in the X1,2 projectors. Unfortunately the only fix is to replace this wheel. The cost of the part generally runs around $175 but the labor to replace is about the same. You will need to find an authorized service center where you live or send it to a repair facility. Parts for any of the InFocus units are generally not available to the public, alas the Service Centers. Maybe for the same cost you could look at a new projector, like I did.

Horrible noise

it is the color wheel i have a similar problem and am looking for the part, the color wheel is a small electric motor that spins at a high speed and it can go bad. which will lead to the horrible squeel/hum/buzz.
