Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 Web Camera

I have vista and I just installed LifeCam VX-3000

Software installed correctly, goes through and verifies microphone, sound, video ok. After says that it's not connected to USB and pls plug it in. IT IS! I've tried every combination unplug reinstall etc... PLS HELP. In fact this happened also with their other model I returned it and got this one b/c it says it's Vista compatible. PLS HELP ME!!

1st You download Webcam Driver.
I have vista and I just installed LifeCam VX-3000
After this install the Webcam driver in the system.
Installation of Webcam Driver
Go to the control panel
Click on the System Icon
Click on the Hardware Tab
Click on the Device Manager s
Select the Unknown Device or printer device where yellow Question Marks sign on it.
Right click on it and uninstall it.
After this go to the top of the device manager and click on scan for hardware changes.
Driver installation Wizard start.
Brows Your Driver from the Hard Disk and click on next.
Driver will be install.

OK I did as you recommended. Now when I plug in the cam it gives the beep like something has been plugged but is not giving me any options. It is made by microsoft yes

    Usually you don't even need the software for the camera. Most are plug and play and will ask for the drivers when needed.



    I would unistall the software. Reboot it. Plug the camcorder into the USB port. Install software when needed.

Installing a lifecam nx 3000. get no sound from


Download the latest software driver from the Microsoft web site. Make sure your webcam is plugged directly into the computer and not through a hub or extension cable. Start up the Lifecam software. Using the Lifecam menu (triangle in the upper right corner), set the microphone volume to max via "audio and video settings".

Microsoft Lifecame VX 3000 and SKYPE not working together


If there was a cd with the camera load the software.

Start Skype, click on Tools, click on options.
Click on video settings.

You should see yourself on the screen.

My microphone is not working with my lifecam vx-3000


Go to Control Panel and click on Sounds, then Click on Microphones and click on the Drop Down window and select the Camera Microphone. Then click on OK and it should work.

I bought a VX 5000 today at the store, and installed everything and the software that came with it "LifeCam" works just fine. It's supposed to be optimized for Windows Live Messenger, and thats my IMing...


Normal 0 Go to Control Panel and Click on Sounds, Click on Audio, then Click on the Microphone. Then Click on the drop down and select Camera Microphone.
Click OK and it should work.

Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000 Sound problems


Right Click the volume icon in the taskbar.
Select RECORDING DEVICES, Select the device you wish to use. Click properties.
Ensure it says ENABLE (use this device).
Then Click the ADVANCED TAB at the top and make sure it is set to "ALLOW APPLICATIONS TO TAKE CONTROL OF THIS DEVICE".

Then open the Messenger software you use and click the tool tab. Then click the Cam/Audio option.
Make sure you have the correct mic/cam selected.

Lifecam video works great - but no audio!


do a cam/mic test in the audio/video settings in the tools tab in yahoo/msn. Then you need to minimise the yahoo/msn screen and right click on the cam icon in the taskbar and check that the mic and cam are enabled and that it is set to allow other programes to take control of this device

Take the screw out of the back and move the small black solanoid away from the circuit board. Fixed !
