-   switch unit on to speed..33/1/3 for example, nothing happens, if remove platter, can see motor spindle moving very slightly, put platter back on and leave for 45 mins and the platter is revolving, at the correct speed. There is a small circuit board attached to the motor, which is not a papst type, could the capacitor be responsible, for this problem, or could it be the motor itself.
Check the fuse in the plug and make sure power is available at motor end of mains lead.
Also, remove belt and see if motor turns (If the 6 rubber motor mounting grommets are failing, it may help to gently push motor up from below). If not, its prob the motor and these can be found on e-bay.

Well, with a turntable that old, if it hasn't been restored it likely needs to be. Could be the power cord, the motor or the clutch.
