For the battery icon X'd out, all you can do is plug the phone in to charge it, then pull the battery and reinstall (sometimes it takes a few tries), until the regular icon comes back. Note that if you turn the phone off and back on, the X icon will probably come back.

Re: Voice Mail Message Indicator
Go to the Home Service panel on the main screen. I had this same problem. I went to my "Home Service" Panel on the main screen. Then I clicked on "Phone". This turned my phone service off. Then I clicked on "Phone" again and the phone service came back. My voicemail indicator light disappeared.

FYI... Voicemail is free no need to subscribe to (its your option to turn on or off)... press and hold down "1" key on cell or dial your cell phone number..once the answer machine starts press the "*" key...listen to options or if messages begin to play (while playing press "7" to delete)...in options you can choose to fwd calls, or not to plus other features...
Check in the SMS and MMS icon for a new Text, or Voice Mail Message Indication. If you can not locate an unread message in the SMS or Voicemail, then try removing and reseating the battery to reset the device and resync with your Provider's Network.
what you do is go to menu and then hit the button that says messaging (the envalope) (sorry if im explaning this so simply i just dont know if you know how to work the phone) the go down to the one that says VOICEMAIL and hit that (well not hit it just you know, poke it or select it :) it should then dial your voicemail. It then should say ....TO CHANGE YOUR PERSONAL OPTIONS PRESS 4 (then open keypad and press 4) then it should say... FOR GREETINGS OR RECORDED NAMES PRESS 3 (onen kepad press 3) then it should have different options such as just one with your 1. name (bob is not available leave a message after the tone) or 2. your number (123-456-7890 is not available please leave a message after the tone) or 3. a personal greeting where you can record whatever you want (hi i am not hear blah blah blah leave a message blah blah blah)
Another thing that helps is getting your text message and voicemail
number. I requested it from T-Mobile since they are my service provider
and have then shut down your network (phone off, battery out) after you
are done. (Settings - Phone- Services - Voice Mail and Text
Messages - Get settings - then putting in the correct text messages
service center number and voice mail)
When you say message, do you mean voice mail message? If so I had to record my voice mail message through my provider (O2). The way i did this was check voice mail and then there are other options you can choose and this will take you to an option of recording your own personal message.
