You probably have a bad tire or wheel bearing. Either the tire is cupped causing humming noise or grease inside sealed wheel bearing is burnt up. I would take front tire and move to the back of the car. Then drive again. If noise stays the same you probably have a bad wheel bearing. If noise moves to the back of the car than you may need to replace the tire. Most likely it is the wheel bearing, I replace them all the time at my shop
If it starts making noise around 40mph than I would bet it is a wheel bearing. There are a couple things you can do to verify this.
When it makes the noise turn the steering wheel to the left and right in a safe place. Does the noise change or even go away? If it does than jack up the front of the car with the rear wheels chalked. With the transmission in nuetral and the engine off rotate each tire with one hand while holding the spring on the strut with the other. Can you feel the noise in the spring. If so whatever side you feel the noise (i know feel the noise seems wrong but you really can feel it when they are bad) is the wheel bearing that is bad.
If none of the above checks out rotate the tires from front to rear. Did the noise move with the tires or go away? If so you have a bad tire. Cupped tires will make a similar noise to a bad wheel bearing.
