Lamp and power light blink simultaneously (by 2 users)

I turn on the tv, it tries to turn on, then stops and the lamp and power light blink simultaneously. If you try to turn it off, it tries to turn on again and then the same thing happens.

Is the lamp burnt out? The last time we watched TV, all was fine. No pop of the light going out or anything.

I don't recall exactly the last time we replace the lamp, but I'm guessing it was about 1.5 years ago.

Called a TV repair and he tried to tell me it was most likely the power supply. But I doubt that.
