Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions

TV broken I pushed the tv off the back of the stand trying to move it, always forget its no attached. It bumped off the wall as I stopped it falling and now it turns itself off and occasionally has red diagonal stripes across the screen. Is it fixable?

The problem you are having is called purity,it can happen for many reasons. The most common happens when moving or changing location of tv. Or sometime a magnet attached to the picture tubes rear surface comes loose and falls on the tv chassis. Also if the tv has been dropped it can create the problem. If this is not the case, you want to unplug the tv from the wall and let it sit for 5 minutes, then plug the tv back in,now turn the tv on, the automatic deguassing coil should activate, you should hear a momentary buzzing sound thats the coil activating. If this does not correct the problem it must be serviced by a servicer you can tell them you have a purity problem.

Hope this helps, Mike

I ve got a sharp aqueos tv i turned oevr channels

Try this: unplug the power cord from the wall, let TV set stand for AT LEAST 30 minutes, then plug back in and and see if the TV operates as normal.
Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.
Good luck !

VCR/DVD prongs broken off in TV

unplug the tv then try to drill a real small hole in the broken off part of the cable that is inthe tv, then take a sharp pointed screw and try to thread it into the hole that you drilled if able to get it started then pull out on the screw to see if it will come out. If not able to do it this way you will have to take the back off and some of and see if you can push the broken part out from the inside. Be sure to unplug your tv from (AC) so you dont get hurt. If that dont work then u probley willhave to take to a shop to get fixed.
