Soleus LX-140 leaking problem

Our soleus LX-140 seems to be leaking leaving large puddles on the hardwood floor!!! It seems to be leaking from the bottom of the unit not sure if it is only from the drain located at the back bottom of the unit. It seems to do this regardless of the humidity. And according to the manual, if the water can not be exhausted fast enough the emergency tank should fill and the unit will shut off. Well, it is not shutting off. We are not sure how to fix this problem. Can you help?

We have a Soleus PE3-09R-03 that is doing the exact same thing. It is extremely frustrating. We emptied the tank anyways-there wasn't much water in there. Any suggestions? Please help

My PE3-09R-03 is doing exactly the same thing, generating huge puddles of water from the bottom of the unit, regardless of cycle or humidity. I discovered the problem several weeks ago when I walked through a very soggy carpet and after cleaning and drying everything, installed a plastic catch pan. I generate at least a gallon or more a day and have to manually empty the pan when it gets close to fill. I DO NOT GET ONE DROP OF WATER FROM THE OVERFLOW AND THE UNIT DOES NOT SHUT DOWN because of that. I am getting quite disgusted that no-one from Soleus can be reached nor do I get replies from their "Service Dept.". I am
fully charged now on this problem and will get serious about finding the answer.

we are having same problem. according to the manual there is a rubber type knob thing thats supposed to go over the end of the drain plug.. that keeps the water from coming out... you remove this when you want to drain the unit... .. we have no rubber thing so its just continually draining itself, but i dont know how the knob got removed.

so im looking for a knob but cant find any parts online yet

We have a 1-year PE3-09R-03 that just started dripping water on the floor. The red "tank full" light never came on. I opened it up to investigate, and I believe the problems are caused by dust. The plastic float that trips the "tank full" switch appears to have gotten stuck due to the combination of water and dust in the tray. Once I loosened it up and cleaned the guide tube it rides in, it would trip the switch when the tank was full. The reason the tank was filling up was a little less obvious. There is a 2-piece plastic tray that sits underneath the evaporator and above the condenser. The tray is supposed to distribute the water that's dripping from the cold evaporator coils onto the warm condenser coils so it can evaporate and be blown out with the warm exhaust air (note that "evaporator" and "condenser" are referring to the refrigerant - the terms appear backwards when referring to what's happening to the water on the outside). The tray and its lid have a series of tiny holes that were - guess what - plugged by dust. The tray is relatively easy to remove, just two screws and a spring clamp on the overflow hose. The tray lid is heat-staked onto the tray, you should be able to clean it without separating the lid. I cleaned and reinstalled the tray and verified that water would flow properly. I then reassembled the unit and fired it up, and it's been running without a puddle for over a day in humid weather.
The unit has a filter for the recirculating room air, but there is no filter for the outside air loop. Adding a filter would obviously help keep the dust out, but it could also reduce the cooling efficiency of the unit.
DO NOT use one of these on a floor you care about without some sort of emergency catch tray underneath!

I also have the same problem with my PE3, EXACTLY. I have installed a catch pan under the unit after drying out my carpet and am using the unit, but I have to empty the pan every few days. I suspect there is a connection problem allowing water to drain directly instead of being discharged out the venting. SOLEUS seems quite difficult to reach, but I am persistent and will find the answer. Good to know the problem is out there yet Soleus is not fessing up.

Soleairus recharge

14 oz if completely empty. yes it can be charged but what caused it to be low in the first place? refrigerant dose not deplete so a leak is what i would be looking for you need to fix it first you don't wont contaminants like air in the system.

My braker keeps tripping with only the tv on and electronics that barely use a lot of juice. it doesn't seem like it pumping out enough cool air for 14,000 btu's either

14,000 btu is a very large unit it should be on a dedicated cuircut of either 15 or 20 amps all by itself.check the rating plate for correct amperage

Have a Soleus LX-140 portable air conditioner. Water was leaking out the right side of the machine. Opened the casing and found a clear hose, one end attached to the plastic tray above the condenser and...

I have an LX-100, and had the same problem, so I am guessing that the designs are similar. There should be a pump in the condensate pan at the bottom of the unit -- on mine, it was near the front, right next to the overflow float switch. There should be an outlet on top of the pump, which is where the hose needs to be attached.

It looks like the pump pushes condensate up into that plastic tray, which lets if flow over the heat exchanger, both cooling it and evaporating the water. With the hose detached, you're probably noticing degraded cooling performance and a lot more condensate in the holding tank than there should be. At least, that was the case for me. Good luck.

LX-140 SOLEUS A/C DUMPED WATER ALL OVER MY WOODEN FLOOR........THE TANK ALWAYS GETS EMPTIED AND CONVINCED THAT THE WATER IS COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT, I TURNED IT OVER AND WATER CAME POURING OUT...

I would recommend that you manually fill the tank so you can watch it and see when it is completly full. If tank full sensor does not work then I would replace it. I think it is probably bad as it should not only tell you the tank is full it should also shut it off. Thank you.

Cannot turn on.

Since you have power to the clock display- there is power to the unit. The "power" function button has failed because the momentary switch on the circuit board below the touch pad has failed. These little push switches have a short service life.
I suggest checking a source who sells the control circuit board for Soleus Air LX-140. Might be similiar component.

Same problem with the leaking from the base of the soleus unit

There is nothing wrong with the unit, you just are in a humid area, the water is from the air.

The water is being pulled from the air, that is part of how it cools, by condensing water.

Some units have hose fittings that can be hooked up to normal garden hoses and routed outside.

You could also install something like that yourself.

Soleus Heat/Air/Dehumidfer Unit

I have had a soleus wall unit since 2005.
It is a wall unit in my apt...I have never had to use the heating part...but use the cooler part alot.
I can not figure out if that lil raindropis for adding moisture to a room...or is it to remove moisture from the room?

My apt always has to much humidity, so I do use that setting quite often, but can't tell any difference in the humidity gage.

Who knows anything about using one of these.
