Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

The following information might help you decide which installation method to use: CD Download The CD provides a quick and easy installation method. If you do not have a CD, you can download the software you need from the HP Web site. CD installation might not work if you are installing the product on a computer running a newer operating system that released AFTER the HP product released. Even though it takes more time than using the CD, downloading the latest software can help avoid installation issues.

Downloading is the recommended method if your computer operating system released after the HP product released. The software on the CD is current to the date of the product release. Hi there 2007 staff! I need HELP! I inherited a computer without much info. to go with it...I have 2007 Microsoft Office software on an HP and I use WordPerfect. I am a writer and I am having the hardest...

Hi,

Personally i wouldn't save your text files to CD/DVD unless you catalogue them properly. they can also take up quite a lot of space.

A CD will hold up to 700MB of data to it. A DVD will hold up to 4.5GB which is a hell of a lot of information especially if you just save text documents.

You can use Windows Media center to burn a data CD/DVD which is probably the easiest way to burn a data disk.

Alternatively you could get an external hard drive to save your file to. This would save plenty of money when it comes to writable media like CD's and DVD's and would also cut out the problem of burning a disk.

The plus side to an external hard drive is that none of the data is stored on the computer hard drive itself and it is usable on other computers in case you don't have access to your own computer.

Regards.

Cant reinstall printer to my computer

You can download the software you need from:

Lexmark Support

Enter your model in the search block.

Next page, click on "Download Driver".

Next page, enter your operating system.

Next page click on "Download Now".

When the download window opens, choose "Save" and save it to your computer where you will know how to access it after the download.

Follow the setup guide. (Here is a link if you do not have it: X1100 Setup Guide )

When you get to the software install, you need to go to the file you downloaded and run (double-click) it.

You can always burn a CD of the file for future use if you choose.
