Bad Battery on EMachine M622-UK8X?

I have an EMachine M622-UK8X that’s a few years old. Now when I plug it in to an AC outlet the battery light flashes a few times, then goes out. If I try turning it on with no AC connection, no lights at all. I don’t want to spend the money on a battery if it’s a bad AC adapter or something else. Is there any way to verify my battery needs replacing?

When I plug-in a new AC adapter, I get nothing. Is it the battery? The adapter is new and I have tried another adapter. No power and no indication of power.

Pull the battery and try powering on the laptop. If it comes up without any problems, it is probably time to invest in a new battery if you want to continue using it as a laptop.

Laptop will not power up

Take the battery out, plug in the charger and see if the laptop works. If it works, the battery may be the problem. Check the AC Adapter
Check to make sure the adapter is plugged securely into the wall outlet, connected firmly to the adapter box and to the back of your laptop. Most AC adapters have a little light in them on that rectangular box in the middle of the cord that lights up when it's getting electricity. If that light isn't on, try a different outlet. Check your fuse or circuit breaker box and plug a different device into that outlet to make sure there is power to it. If it still does not light up, your adapter could need replacing. Also check the adapter box for signs of warmth, as it will generate heat when it's plugged in. No heat means no power.

Remove the Battery Sometimes it's as simple as a seated battery. Remove the battery entirely and clean out any dust, lint or hair that may be clogging the connectors and preventing a proper connection. Reseat the battery securely and make sure the little locking pins that hold your battery in place are securely fastened and there is no movement. Unplug your laptop while it is running. If it still works, the battery has been charging. If it shuts off, or doesn't hold a charge very long, you have a bad battery. Unplug your laptop while it is off, then try to turn it on. If the battery is bad, your laptop probably won't turn on at all. Turn off your laptop's screen-saver when testing its battery. The screen-saver will conserve the battery and not give a clear time frame for how long your battery can really last. Click the battery icon on your laptop when it is unplugged. It can tell you how much battery life you have available. This icon is usually located in the bottom right corner of your screen and will provide the percentage of battery power you have left. Keep track of the time it takes to go from 100% charged to 1% charged. If this takes less than an hour, your battery is probably beginning to fail. You can also try this every week or two to see if your battery holds a charge for shorter periods. Factor in the amount of time you have used your laptop. Most laptop batteries last 2 to 3 years or about 500 charges. Wait a few days before determining whether a new laptop battery is faulty. New batteries sometimes take a few charges to build up to their maximum run time.

Have an emachine laptop m622-uk8x. The power button does not work. How do I fix or replace it. When you push it, it doesn't move.

first you have to get a part number for the switch. Call E-machines and explain your situation. They can look up part number and order it for you.

Emachine M622-UK8X won't power up. When plugged in all the panel lights come on, but stay on. power button has no effect. cmos battery good. Does not smell burnt. Any suggestions?

you might try removing the battery pack. and power up the laptop using only the wall connector that came with it. sometimes a bad battery pack is the cause of power up problems.

My Gateway 1450 will not power up. For the last 2 weeks that battery light has been red (battery need recharging). i had the unit turned off with no ac power to it all weekend and not it will not power up....

The motherboard battery is just a little round battery that you can buy at almost any retailer in most pcs. The model number to the battery is usually a CR 2032. This battery does not receive any power from your power supply. Have you noticed your PC loosing time over the last few months? This is usually a good indication that the motherboard battery is dying. The lights that you refer to though should only partain to the rechargable battery of the notebook. During the past two weeks while the red light was on, was the AC adaptor plugged in to the laptop and plugged into an AC source? If your AC adaptor has been plugged in and is not charging the notebook battery then there could be one or both of the following problems: your notebook battery could be bad or your AC adaptor could be bad. Something you may or may not know is that it is not good to keep the AC adaptor plugged in all the time. This causes the notebook battery not to fully discharge after being charged. Over a long period of time, the battery will not even charge anymore. My suggestion is that if you know someone with a similar AC adaptor to yours, borrow it to see if it charges your battery. If the battery doesn't charge then you know to replace. However, I am almost certain that you problem is the battery. Sometime older laptops like the one I have has a reset button on the underside. If yours has one try removing the battery and leave it out. Then plug in the power and press and hold the reset button for 10 to 20 seconds. If no reset button is on yours then do the same process with the battery removed and power adding, but hold the power button instead.

Dell Vostro 1000 shut down and won't turn back on

nope, it is your dc power regulator board. you will note this happens if the battery is in or out of the laptop. that is the key test. some regulators are on the main board and some are seperate for this reason. I think the vostro though is on the main board. A little board re-work will resolve this issue after replacing some components, but this is way beyond a home user's ability.. trust me on this. Sorry for the bad news. Thanks!

Inspiron E1505 - ac power not always on when plugged in outlet

I've had both the battery and the cord die in my old Dell laptop. Assuming it's like mine and the light is on while the battery's charging and turns off when the it's full....

Dell batteries don't last more than a year or two, so my first question would be how old is the battery you are currently using? When a battery is dying, it essentially isn't able to use its full capacity. So in addition to lasting less than an hour or so, it will try to charge for 6-12 hours trying to get a full charge even though it can't. So the light will stay on until it gives up. It will start charging again if you unplug it and plug it in again. If this is the case, you can either replace the battery ($100+ bucks) or ignore it and don't use the battery.

If the power cord is going, it will only work at certain angles. Play around with wiggling and bending the cord (not TOO far though!!) to see if you can get the battery light to shut off when you move the cord in a certain direction. A new power cord/adapter will cost you around $50 I think, if that's the problem. Let me know if your problem doesn't seem like either of these.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Hp notebook zd8000 wont power on

In this case i suggest you to remove the battery from the notebook and try to power on the notebook with the help of AC adapter so that you come to know whether the issue is with the Battery or AC adapter. If still the notebook is not getting power with AC adapter you need to take for service retailer store and fix the issue.

Doesn't start up

remove the primary battery and plug the computer into an AC outlet using the AC adapter. If the computer starts up, one of the batteries need to be replaced. If the battery light on the of the comoputer is blinking, the battery has reached a low batery level, which may not allow the computer to start up. Plug the computer into an AC outlet using the AC adapter to start the computer and allow the battery to charge.
