We purchased a surge bar about 4 years ago to protect the computer. The model number is SP8200T2 but last night it did NOT protect the computer, yet the surge bar still seems to be working. Your phone number on the warranty is no longer valid. Can you please reply or advise your new phone number. Thank you, Derek Coombes I need a phone Number.

I could not find mfr on web, lots of places selling, but no hint of mfr. if you want reliable protection, get one from TripLite, APC or Belkin, most of the better brands will pay for your computer if surge destroys it.

What is it asking you to press? Try pressing the space bar. If that does not work, call the help number listed with the computer.

Dell dimention E310 green light will go on and off

You turned off the surge protection....Ummm did you remove the plug from the wall after doing this?. If you did then it has become corrupted due to a bad shutdown meaning that the system had not fully shutdown when power was turned off which has corrupted the data stored on the MBR ( Master Boot Record ) but I do not understand why you can not restore from a previous good known configuration. If you have a recovery disk or windows os boot disk try to repair it, if it will stay on long enough that is.

If you turned off the surge protection and did not remove the plug from the wall because you turned off the surge protection it is not available to protect your devices etc and in turn a lightening strike close enough will fry the computer due to EMP ( Electro Magnetic Pulse )

You may need to have a qualified person look at it but if it has been fried due to EMP sorry to say but you can say goodbye to the computer as it will not be repairable, You may be able to reuse the case as long as you use another Dell motherboard as Dell have an unusual way of mounting the M/B ( Motherboard ). I hope this helps.

Power supply malfunctioning

Most surge protection power boards will protect computer equipment from mains spikes and surges.
A better and more expensive solution is to use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). These units provide surge and spike protection and also provide power in the event of mains power failure.
Make sure you select an UPS model that meet the power requirements of all your computer equipment that is connected to the UPS with a mains down time of say 1/2 hour to give you time to shut down your computer in an orderly manner.

My Acer Aspire M1201 won't turn on.

More than likely your power supply got fried from a power surge during that storm anyway. You'd be surprised at how worthless most surge suppressors are these days.

Computer power won't turn on

First thing to do is try to plug the pc in another wall socket to see if it goes on, If not, the MB could have gotten fried, even though the other plugs seem to work. Hopfully you just need another surge protector as that could have gotten damaged.

Emachine with XP home edition doesn't start

Hi hearalso, down to the basic's. Replace power cord.
No help there than, remove the case's side panel to expose the motherboard. (Normally it is the left side panel while facing the front of the PC.)
Look closely for a small (green in color) led light. The power cord must be connected to the PC & connected to you're power strip but do not press the power on button on the PC.
The green led tell's you the board is receiving 5volts. Check all connections. Un-plug & reconnect every data & power connector in your PC. (Double check). There is a fuse inside your power supply that may have blown. Check you're manual page, Approva Statements B-1. Fuse Warning Instruction Caution.
Check fuse in power supply. (Unplug power cord before opening).
If you can not power up the PC after all of the above than if possible, swap out the power supply.
Replacing the power supply is the last step.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
Good Luck!

Mike

Sony Vaio VGC-RB576 motherboard fried

if you have problems with outages and surges, then the only way to protect electrical goods is by purchasing a surge protection socket extension. But you should check that your power options in control panel are set that on the shutdown drop down list the pc lists shut down and does not say restart. Also go into bios F2 or Del on boot up and look and see if time and date are correct, if not then the cmos battery needs changing (Cr2032 disc chaped on motheroard) then in advanced cmos settings, then look for 'ACPI', make sure this is enabled so as to support windows shutdown settings, then save settings and exit for a reboot.
