Yeah...buy a step down transformer there in vietnam...im sure they have some there. try to buy the one best suited for your refrigerator in terms of capacity rating. if your ref is big, then buy a big transformer. dont use any type of step down transformer.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have Hobart D300 mixer which operates at 220V, 3phase supply and whereas the facility has 208V, single phase supply. Is there any recommended phase converters available for this product. Thanks

Hi Bill
I may be wrong here......
But I've been around Electricity for a long time.
Have Never seen a device that does phase conversion.
A Building site or home will either have Three Phase or Single Phase Power Available
BUT...A portable (Hired) generator could be "three phase" and you could use any one of those phases individually or all three phases.

I have 3 Phase supply to my house!
But I use 230 volt Single Phase for appliances.
My Bore Pump uses a 3 Phase Motor,
(so with a voltmeter it would read about 440 vAC to the pump motor).
Some Further Info:
A GENERATOR is basically a motor used the opposite way. Rotate a motor and it Generates.
The Phases refer to the THREE Windings in the supplying generator in your suburb.
A Large Magnet passes each winding in sequence giving you the three ripples in the supply.
Our houses can choose to have 1 Phase or Three Phases from the street when you set up your electric supply.
So... to confirm, look at the wires on the supply poles to the premises. Usually three in our area (Oz)
Most people are not aware that a car Alternator is actually three phase. The Rotor is the magnet that rotates.
The only difference with an Alternator is that each "Phase" is connected to 2 Diodes (6 total) to convert the three phase to DC to charge the vehicle.
The Regulator controls the voltage to the Rotor, thereby controlling the output.
So.... An Alternator could in theory supply 3 Phase in a mobile generator. Custom Made. Constant speed would determine the frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz.
Not sure what country you are in

Hope this Helps or gives you food for thought!

Solis 365 royal hair vac I was wondering if it was possible to use this product in australia due to the voltage difference and if there is a product made to suit australian voltage or if an adaptor...

There are products called Step Up transformers/Step Down (Voltage Converters) that can be used. We use these For our 220VAC Australian manufactured lasers when we need to run them in a Dr.'s office that only has US 110VAC.

Info from a website:
Electrical voltage in USA is 110 voltwhereas; the voltage in most of the foreign countries is 220V to 240 volt. A voltage converter / transformer, also known as power converter are usedto convert electricity coming out of the wall to match the voltage of yourdevice. These Voltage transformers or converters can be used safely withRefrigerators, Microwaves, Juicers, Blenders, Coffee makers, Power Tools,Stereo Systems, TV's, Video Games, DVDs, Hair dryers, Chargers, computersand other electronics when travelling abroad..

Remember to leave at least a 100-percent margin for power surges/spikewhen buying a transformer. Some items, such as Televisions, computermonitors spike when you turn them on. For these products you need to buy avoltage converter transformer that is at least 3 times the items capacity.Power tools, laser printers and heating appliances like coffee makers, toasters, microwaves, Halogen, Fluorescent bulbs you must leave a marginof 3-4 times.

Voltage transformers are made to convert single phase 110 or 220 volt.American 220 Volt consists of 2 phase of 110 Volt and European 220 Voltconsists of 1 phase of 220 volt.

Volts x Amps = Watts (i.e. 110V x 0.5 AMPS = 55W). Please make sure not torun any appliance with higher wattage then voltage transformer's wattage. This might damage both: your appliance and the transformer!

I hope this helps.

Can I plug GE dryer GTDP250EMWW directly to 220v? the manual says that the power rating of this model is 110/220v.

If the dryer is electric and bought in the United States then you can plug it in. The 110/220 power rating basically means that some parts if the dryer use 110v. All 220v is is 2 110v independent circuits sharing the same common ground.

How do I wire a three phase electric motor to 110 plug

You can't run a 3-phase motor on 110V unless you use a 3-phase inverter. Depending on the size of your motor, these will probably run you around $150 for the least expensive type. Take a look at--- http://americanrotary.com/static-phase-converters.html

110v stuff works, 220v stuff doesn't

Check and make sure you have the phasing correct on your wiring. If you have both hot wires connected to the same phase in your breaker panel than you will only get 110 volts. Also check and make sure your fuses are all good. Just take a multimeter and check the voltage across the two hot wires, if you get 110 then test each hot to ground if you get 110 at both than the phasing is incorrect, if you only get one side 110v than you have a fuse or breaker or something not connected problem. In-case your not sure on what i mean about phasing, Your power from outside comes into your panel at 220v from two different lines each at a different "phase" from each other. Google would be your best bet on learning this topic, Since I am not gonna get into electrical studies here :-) Generally in your panel every second breaker slot is the same phase, so if you you need two in a row on the same side. If all that is correct than there is something wrong with the stove. Check fuse's mostly, other than that you will probably need a professional. Unless your good at reading schematics.
Please post back with your results and please vote if I have helped you in anyway.

Using dryer in 220V country

There are two systems in use in the states
110v dryers are available that fit a standard 11v 15a socket
110/220v fit the oversize 'dryer' sockets, and they are two 110v phases 90 degreees apart
the motor runs of a single phase 110v.
there is 220v between the 'outside', the active lines of the two phases, at any time, but it is not useable to provide mechanical power as a single service, due to the complicated shape of the wave form when you add out of phase voltages together, but is ok to drive the heaters, they have no mechanical efficiency requirement
A 2 phase 110v heater it means 3kw can be supplied without a 30 amp circuit
but it becomes difficult to use a single phase 220-240v transformer to provide 2x110v 90degree 2 phase current unless you specially buy one in. .
High power applications in 220-240v are generally supplied by 415v 3 phase 60deg supplies,

Any transformer would be onsellable at the end of your posting, to your replacement, who would doubtless be in the same boat as you, with a heap of 'stuff' that needs to run.

UK Aus NZ may be sources of transformers, or dryers to suit.
check with Australian UK NZ suppliers as well as local Indian ones, as those countries are also nominal 240v single phase home suplies and they may have (1) the dryer, or (2)the transformer to suit the 110 2 phase dryer

Using dryer in 220volt country

Bombay is 240v single phase, the three wires in the socket are active neutral and earth, not as the 2*110v90degree two phase American circuit active1 active2 and neutral
.
If the transformer is designed for American use, it does not step down 220v,
it instead takes a 2*110v90degree 2 phase supply and produces a high current 110v single phase output, by setting both input phases electrically 90degrees apart on a common primary winding.
This is not compatible.

replace the dryer, cheaper faster safer
should have left in Houston
