26 year old maytag washer. Repalcing the electric motor.
New replacement maytag motor has jumper. The wires are wht, red, yel, blk, and blue. Old motor has wht, red, yel, blk, and green.wires
Is the blue wire now go to the old green wire ?
Maytag has confirmed that this new motor is the correct replacement & updated model for my washer.
Part number of the new motor is 12002351 single speed motor.
Maytag has been no help at all for the questions of the wiring difference., Local shops have been no help.
There was no wiring diagram with the new motor. I did so more testing and found the old green wire now goes to the new blue wire. It is the spray and spin cycle.
Sure would have been nice if Maytag was more helpful. One little note in the directions is all that would have been required....
Neil, I need to know if the motor came with a wiring diagram when it was purchased or did it just come by itself. You may have to learn how to read the wiring diagram that is stored inside the control panel.

Normally that is a timer motor or motor gear and needs a new timer. Easy replacement, just unplug the washer, take the back off and replace one wire at a time from the old to the new. Then remove the old one and mount the new one. I had to replace mine a while back.
Sorry to confirm your suspisions but its leaking oil from the transmission and its exxxpensive to replace the transmission. And sad but true the good ole days of dependabilty of the maytag is gone espically since 5 years ago Maytag was bought by Whirlpool. a Whirlpool is a good machine but nothing was good as the old Maytag's
it sounds like the coupling between the transmission and the agitator is bad . You know the transmissions now a days have plastic gears in them and if you continue to use it may blow the transmission! Speed queen is the only one I know with stainless steel parts in the trans and only 6 moving parts in the trans too.
How old is the washer?
If the appliance is 10 years old or more you it may not be advisable to put good money into bad! New appliances are so much more efficient today that they can save you a lot of money in energy! Water,Electric and detergent! And put money back in your pocket! The new appliance will pay for itself in only a few years!

The "LR" error code means "locked rotor". It appears on the display after the machine has repeatedly tried to turn the motor. The cause of the problem could be the motor itself, the motor control board, the main control board or the wiring. If your washer is less then five years old most likely the parts are still under Maytag warranty. It has very sophisticated design and I wood recommend to call the Maytag authorized repair man even if the warranty is already expired.
