Question about Kenwood KDC -X815
I have a Kenwood KDC x815 head unit. I just replaced the ribbon cable from the circuit board to the faceplate and when i put the unit into my vehicle the tuner works fine but I cant get any sound out of the CD or the AUX. The CD is playing the CD be cause the display shows the time of the cd moving and the level lights are moving. I can also change tracks and I can hear the mechinism moving inside. I also have an MP3 player hooked up through the changer input cable that also is working but not getting any sound out. I know the head unit is getting the signal from the MP3 player because the level meters work and when I pause the MP3 player, the level meters stop. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I fixed the sound problem with tech support from Kenwood. I had the blue wire from the Kenwood which is the antennae turn on wired to the amp turn on for the vehicle (2001 Blazer with Bose factory stereo). This is how I was told to wire it from the installation tech where I purchased the wiring harness. The tuning played fine because the Bose amp turned on when I played the tuner but when I played the cd or aux the amp turned off, thus no sound. The kenwood tech toldd me to wire the blue/white wire to the amp turn on for the vehicle so the amp would be on when ever power to the Kenwood was on. I rewired this way and everything works great now.
