Need schematic on series 260 / 130 watt amp. brd. circa. 6/9/72. In particular value of 1/4 watt resistance in input diff. pair coll. ckt. from B- rail & 1/4 watt resistance in coll. ckt. pnp class b driver to B- rail.

How do I troubleshoot and repair this amplifier?


simple really : learn electronics theory of operation , obtain schematic drawing of amp and then obtain testing devices , and using your new knowledge follow ckt thru from front to back to find defective parts , then replace them using more equipment
see simple really .
or you could open cover up and just look for the parts that are all burnt and melted over , that works too

I plugged my marantz sr 8002 into 220 volts


  • There are a total of 8 fuses of varying types, wattage, and amperage ratings.
  • Disconnect the power cord to your surround receiver and let it sit for a while; hopefully capacitor drain will have occurred; just the same be careful not to contact any of the high voltage ones. They can knock you on your boom-boom or send you to the Pearly Gates before it's your time.
  • Remove the casement cover; look for the Printed Wiring Board (PWB) labeled REG_PWB...this is the regulator printed wiring board.
  • Following the circuitry from the main transformer there are 2 (two) fuses; one is located at position number F901 and the other at F902. Both are Time Lag 382 series radial lead fuses made by LITTLE FUSE. And both are 5-amp 250volt rated fuses- check for continuity using an Ohmmeter with tone. If you get tone, the are okay. If not, you'll have to de-solder them and solder in new one(s)
  • On the same board, there are 2 (two) fuse resistors rated at 0.33 Ohms, 1 watt; check their resistance values using the Ohmmeter scale. You will find their position markings at R903 and R904 on the PWB. If your resistant readings are below the spec values, you'll have to replace them.
  • The remaining fuses will be found on the PWB labeled, Standby PWB A. Check them using the continuity tester with tone.
  • Between position markings F701 and F703 the schematic shows a 10-amp/250 volt fuse
  • At position marking 701 there is a time lag series 6.3-amp/250 volt fuse.
  • At position marking F702 and F703 are 2 more fuses, both are the T382 "Little Fuse" series fuses rated at 3.15-amps/250 volt.
I believe that covers it...hope all works out well. :)

Just received your request for some information regarding Bose 501's......... Series III. Your looking for te manufacturers part # for the fuse which is in line with the woofer? The fuses used ON the Series III Crossovers (hard wired/soldered directly to crossover board/componants) have been Identified as BUSS #2494, 2amp, Quick-Blow Glass Tube Type Fuses. The fuse which is in-series with the woofer & the fuse which is in-series with the pair of tweeters are the same! In theory this means that the woofer is capable of twice the wattage of the tweeters due to the tweeters being wired in series with each other..... which in turn divides the power beween the two equaly. On the woofer circuit there is only the one speaker or voice coil obsorbing the power. The woofer circuit being wired in parallel with the tweeter circuit again splits the power between the two cuircuits..... so in an ideal situation the woofer sees 50% total input power while the tweeters each see 25% total input power;;;; totaling 100% total. The way Bose has fused them in the Series III's is such that each branch can obsorb a total of 2 amps before shutting down each indivigual branch. This can be adventageous..... should peak power be exceeded causing loss of full load abruptly, Amplifier Power Output Transistors usually blow..... however when only half of the full cuircuit shuts down due to peak power exeeding limits causing one fuse to open (blow) ... the actual impedance (resistance) of the speaker increases protecting the Amplifiers Output Transistors! Thats the reason for the 2 fuses. Each of them are identical. They are soldered into place.... via the wire which is attached to each end of the fuse. (Note; the fuse "kit" Bose is trying to sell you is an external in line fuse holder for each speaker {costing 1.29 each} & 2 fuses for each holder, One for now & One for Later aftr it blows {costing 1.00 each}..... costing Bose 6.58, neting Bose $13.42 Profit!!!! Keep in mind that this fuse WILL NOT FIX YOUR PROBLEM EITHER! DUE TO THE FUSE WHICH IS PRESENTLY BLOWN HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED!!!!! ) The one that has to be replaced is on the crossover... not between the Amplifier & the Speaker Enclosure. Tools required = 1 Long Big Straight Blade Screwdriver to pry off speaker grill, 1 Phyllips Screwdriver to remove screws seccuring woofer to encloser... be carefull not to damage/tear gasket, 1 pair side cutters to cut blown fuse out of crossover curcuit, 1 pair needle nose pliers to attach NEW fuse to crossover curcuit, 1 soldering Iron & a small piece of solder to re-solder fuses leads securly to crossover curcuit. ( replace gasket, woofer, screws, & speaker grill. ENJOY! I have the following equipment and am going crazy trying to figure out how they get connected together. I also have the Carver Multi CD player and Carver Cassette Deck which I was able to connect to the...


Get a separate amp for the 901's and the rest falls into place.

1,2, 5) Place the 901 Active EQ between the pre/main front OUT of the receiver and the TFM-55X. Attach the 901's. Keep track of the jumpers you remove from the receiver. Or replace the jumpers with RCA splitter cables so you still have pre/main connection but can share the output with the TFM.

3) Pinnacle subwoofer (self-powered?) to the subwoofer out of the receiver.

4) Bose (AMS???) 5. As surrounds on the receiver. Place the sub module toward the rear so it mates sonically and directionally with them.

What? No center speaker? I'd get something more robust with bass capabilities, like a pair Bose 301 series 1's because the tweeters face in one direction only.

Except for the amps and the cube stuff that is essentially what I have. 6.1 with full-range speakers everywhere.

Amp protection circuit has been activated


1-check your input cables from connected equipments(cd player or dvd p
layer or any other media source).
2-adjust your input signal level(from-10 db to 0 db).
3-amplifier power must be bigger than total power of all loudspeaker with 20%----(if total power of loudspeaker is 8 watt amplifier must be 10 watt.

Sounds like improper speaker installation causing the amp outputs to overheat and thermal protection to kick in.

Hi again,

It would seem that you posted the problem here also. With your kind permission, I will repost my excerpts of my responses that others may benefit on similar concerns.

A. Most current receivers no longer include a PHONO input. Perhaps what could be done is to purchase a phono to line level pre-amplifier to go along in your purchase for a new receiver.

I was made to understand that the Pioneer SX-1600 is prone to speaker output problems which could either be:
1. the speaker relay (protection); and/or
2. the amp, STK4191II Stereo Module.

Either should be relatively easy to work on and perhaps you can try the services of a locally available qualified electronic technician since the repairs would not be too specialized. The service manual may be of help (or at least a schematic , they may be downloaded from here and here).

B. To recap what you need is a receiver that can accommodate:
4 - Pioneer S-DF1-K (15-100W, 8 ohms)
1 - Pioneer PD-F407 25 Disc CD Player
1 - Pioneer CT-300 dual tape deck
1 - Kenwood KD-491F turntable

C. Possible choices are (keeping in mind that the power output should be less if not equal to 100 watts and a turntable/phono input):
i. Onkyo TX-8522 Stereo Receiver;
ii. Yamaha RX-397 100 Watt Natural Sound AM/FM Stereo Receiver;
iii. Sony STR DE695 AV receiver;
iv. Teac AG-790 200 Watt Stereo Receiver;
v. Denon AVR 888 - AV receiver - 7.1 channel.

Some of the above also includes feature(s) to hook up to your video system. Some may even require a fifth speaker (subwoofer).

Incidentally, you can also choose another brand/model even without a turntable/phono input. As initially posted, a turntable/phone to line level pre-amplifier is only required. Here are some examples:
a. XP200 Turntable Preamp - Nano Series;
b. Pyle® Pro PP999 Phono Preamplifier;
c. Pro-Ject Phono Box Turntable Preamplifier;
d. Radial J33 RIAA Turntable Preamp Direct Box

Onkyo receiver audio problem


Called Onkyo and here is the solution they gave me.

1. Turn on unit.

2. Press and hold VIDEO 1 button.

3. While pressing VIDEO 1 button, press Speaker A.

4. You should see "CLEAR" on the display for a second and the unit will go on stand-by mode.

5. Turn on the unit again and check if sound is back.
