Freezer drain is plugged. Defrost the freezer and clear the drain line inside the freezer and in back where it exits the cabinet.

My ice maker isn't getting water in to make ice. I can manually pour water into the maker, let it freeze, and get the maker to get the ice out, but no water comes in. GE model GSHS5KGX. Side by side...

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects theb you need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge.
Thank you for using fixya

Water accumulating on the freezer side

Drain system is clogged.
Clean the drain tray and drain line in the back of the freezer section, located behind the back cover and underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - make sure to put the tube exactly where it was.

Good luck! :)

Water pools at bottom of freezer, freezes and water leaks out

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove bottom shelf from fridge and remove the may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. Heavy water leak in basement under fridge

Has this fridge got an ice maker???
Because ice makers require a water supply to make ice.
This could be where your water is coming from.

Water collecting in bottom of freezer coming from back grill.

To poshodian: There are a few more posts about this problem. Of course, in order to fix it, you have to remove the panel hiding the condenser coils behind the grill and showing the drain hole.

This is what I just posted on one of them:

I’ve had my Maytag 2454 fridge for 8 years. But only this week did the same problem show up as cathy824 and lew223. When I poked a drink stirrer into the top of the drain hole, it was hard as a rock. Not knowing why condensate from the coils was not draining into the hole and tubing that would empty the water into the pan evaporator on the bottom of the fridge, I took everything apart in the back and messed around with the black rubber elbow at the other end of the drain plug. I shouldn’t have bothered, because what I finally did was to pour boiling, boiling hot water over the drain hole to melt the ice and gunk that was frozen solid in the drain tubing. While I was doing that, I poked the stirrer into the hole, washing the gunk down the drain and into the very dry evaporator pan. Keep pouring hot water into the drain hole until you’re satisfied that water can flow freely into the pan.

That solved the problem of condensate water freezing on the bottom of the freezer and running onto the kitchen floor. Thanks to lew223 for the fix! The fridge should be good for another 8 years now.

Loud banging noise and water leaking

not much can be done about compressore noise, short of replacing it. but your drain issue is easily fixed, with that whirlpool heat strap you actually wraps around the heater in frezer section and the idea is that when the unit goes into a defrost cycle(3 or 4 times a day) the heater heats the strap(which runs into drain tube) up as well, preventing tube from freeezing up and eventually backing up into your freezer floor
