Some bus resets are required before you see devices available as quorum elements.

Those IP addresses can be different. Using IPv6 I hope....

SQL server can do clustering its own way or use the Enterprise Server base (or third party stuff.)

Hey, you can't ask MSDN forums everything or cite the machines and architectures you hope to achieve, right?

This is a complex and diverse question due to the numerous scenarios.

A common setup: Dual servers setup on a fail over cluster. You basically make two servers seem as one with a virtual IP and name. Hardware breakdown is 2 servers with 5 drives each minimum. The first 2 drives the OS at RAID 1 (mirrored). The other 3 drives are the database at RAID 5 (striped). You now have hardware redundancy all the way around. When 1 drives fails, you simply replace the drive. The database is replicated and is fail safe. When a complete server fails or needs maintenance you just roll over the server / database to the other node via cluster administration.

This is just an example, but a very common SQL server setup in busisness enterprise environment.

Hi, I m really sorry to say that but you have a Server Product and its built to run Windows Server Series on it (or Linux / Novell Netware).
This is the list of compatible Server list
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for 64-bit Extended Systems Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Essential Business Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Foundation Edition Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Small Business Microsoft Windows Server 2008 W32 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64 Novell NetWare 6.5 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (AMD64/EM64T) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (x86) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86-64) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (x86) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (AMD64/EM64T) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (x86)
Here is the link for Drivers
Try to use the Driver for Windows 2003.
It has a Matrox VGA as I know. If you know which Matrox series you have, then Browse here for the Drives: Matrox Graphics Support. Make sure that you choose the Exact Driver software which suites the System.
Note: Not every product has the Driver Software for Windows XP.
Please rate the answer! Thanks for contacting Fixya!

VMWare Clustering with Veeam or just replication

There are several advantages of clustering, as you stated, ease of server environment replication is one of these advantages. There are several others, instant fail-over replacement, swaping from one machine to the other for hardware / software maintentance / upgrades with little to no downtime during the proceedures, shared access to similar content / configurations, there are many many reasons to cluster.

you may also look into ESXi:

VMware ESXi is the easiest way to get started withvirtualization—and it’s free. Consolidate your applications onto fewerservers and start saving money through reduced hardware, power, coolingand administration costs. VMware ESXi has been optimized and tested torun even your most resource intensive applications and databases withminimal performance overhead. With VMware ESXi you can:

The SQL disks are slow responces in windows cluster

This issue seems a bit dated: basically in short, in the group cluster that has the disks failing to come fully online, it seems one of the resources which has dependencies. This dependency is failing and causing the rest of the resources to fail and disks do not go online. fix the dependency or remove it as a dependency and the disks will come on line.
use cluster manager to locate the resources and select properties and then .. interrogate it and remove the dependency for now. Once removed ... then bring the other resources online.
