Lexmark printer power problem

Lexmark x1100

I'm trying to get my lexmark all in one printer up and running but the power itself isn't coming on. The only power connection there is in the back of the printer is a USB which I connected to my PC but no power. I would have thought there would be a socket power from the mains but there isn't any port in the back of the printer for that. I would be grateful if you could advise on how I should fix this problem..is it the connection as I got the printer a while ago and wasn't aware that printers had moved onto USB yet or would it be something else.

Many thanks.

Make sure the Lexmark X1100 Printer Driver is installed on your computer.
If the printer driver was already installed and working with your computer, please follow steps below:
A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC.

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.
6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list again, then try to print again.

MY LEXMARK X1100 CENTER DOES NOT OPEN.

Hi. The software may not be installed properly. Try running the software again using the installation cd that came with your printer. If you have tried it already. uninstall and reinstall the software to give your computer a fresh start. Also, check your firewall and allow all Lexmark communications to go through. Hope this helps.

How to install my lexmark x1100 all in one printer without cd

First thing you need to do is uninstall the current software and printer.

Then go to: X1100 Series Driver

Select your operating system...Vista...from the drop down menu.

The next page has the link to download the driver. (It should be cjrX1100EN.exe. Click on "Download Now".

When you begin the download and the download window appears, select "Save" and direct the download to save to your desktop.

After the download is complete, close all the windows, or other programs.

Make sure your printer is ON but also that the USB cable is DISCONNECTED. Double-click the file on your desktop that you downloaded. When prompted by the software, connect your USB cable.

That should do it. If you run into any problems, just comment back.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Get on the internet, go to Lemark site they have a area for support, and download drivers place on a cd or down load to your desktop. When finished run the drivers and your printer should work. If you can find on lexmark site there are many other sites that have them. Just type Lexmark x1100 drivers and pick a site in your search engine. You should not have to buy them.. Good luck.

There is a power connection right next to the usb port. I am including a link to the manual. It has a picture. It appears that the power supply itself connects to the printer. here is the link:

Lexmark X1100 installation

Grace -- the manufacturer tries to be helpful, but your printer and operating system are so old they're no longer listed on Lexmark's Web site.

If you go there, though:
http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/support.cgi

Get to where you're searching for help on the X1110 -- not X1100. At the bottom of the screen is a link to "live chat" -- someone there may be able to help you.

There are other Web sites that purport to help you, but I can't vouch for any of them. Lexmark may not be helpful, in which case you'll have to try something else; but try them first.
