Question about HP Pavilion a620n (PC028A) PC Desktop

1 Answer

DVD problem The problem is that all types of CDS work in my HP computer but unfortunately none of the DVD work in it as soon as i put my DVD in the CPU it asks"please insert a disc" and so because of this there's a problem with the HP DVD Play Application Update.

I am having the exact same problem. After several years of perfect functioning, my computer's DVD player stopped working. It plays and recognizes CDs and CD-Rs but no DVDs. The lense has been cleaned and from everything I've read, I'm pretty sure it's a software problem, not a hardware problem. I see people talking about this everywhere but no solutions offered. Nothing's worked for me.

This is gonna be a bit complicated since were going to access your registry, but just follow all the steps and it will be much easier
>Click on START
>Type REGEDIT on the search bar on START Menu
>Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
>Expand SYSTEM
>Expand CurrentControlSet
>Expand Control
>Expand Class
>Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
>Look for the Upper Filters / right click on it / click on Delete
>Look for the Lower Filters / right click on it / click on Delete
>Restart PC
>Try you CD / DVD ROM
If nothing happens, click on this link then click on RUN and follow the steps, then restart computer and try to run a disc again, if still nothing happens, theres a possibility that the problem is with the hardware side or the media player that you are you using...

Hope this will help...Your response is very much appreciated...

Cds doesn't work

That could mean a problem with the Drive itself. I would recommend replacing it because there is nothing that you can do without spending about the cost of a new one repairing it. I am sorry.

Dvd and cds are not working the light keeps flashing yellow on dvd

Go into my computer and see if the dvd-rw is being recognized in there, It should be either the d: or e: drive.

If it is in there then try different disks like music cd's, game cd's movie dvds and see if it can read them and show information for them. If it can read some disks but not others then try cleaning the laser with a slightly damp q-tip with glass cleaner and then dry it off with another dry q-tip.

If it can read them all then problem solved, if it can only read some cd's or none of them then you have a bad laser and you will need to get the dvd-rw replaced.

DVDRRW recognizes CDs, not DVDs.

What PC ,
HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8100n Desktop PC
what OS, we cant guess, OS, ever. say it. please.
then we can talk. it came new with XP/VISTA/W7
which one is yours? (then and now, did you upgrade to w10 for free? we cant guess that either,)

"regardless of type (DVD )" does that mean , using program manager
explorer, (my PC, my computer, app) cant see files on a real
store bought DVD? or cant read any windows disks, real install DVD? from HP or MS?
or cant read DVD-r , Only, ? be more clear on media, even give a real example .
like my computer app runs and sees it but media player don't.

ill guess XP and real DVDs can not be seen by ANY means.

if running XP , why? XP is not only a Virus magnet ask (UK hospitals that fun....)but also , has no support or is buggy on many DVD drives made. and also many USB ports and devices can be dead on XP, XP sux really... and vista close 2nd
If not on W7, upgrade it now, and win. really.

if not already.
never post lacking OS or the post will go NOWHERE fast.

there are patches for XP, for 16 long years, endless.
HP has none
MS has none, (ok 1)
you just dig them up from the toxic internet of viruses..
the toxic soup.
got SP3 from XP that is mandatory in all cases, and the reg patch for DVDs. yes, there is one.
as is the one and only, 3 month old MS patch to stop
the RANSOMEWare. attacks.

what OS what OS what OS?

Acer Aspire 5050-3371 not playing CDs or DVDs

Hi,
You need to re-install The Drivers ( software to make the Device Work ) I,d suggest visiting Acers Driver Site. typing in the model number of your laptop. and searching for a Suitable Driver for CD/DVD Rom.
Operating system depending, you can right click on the device and try un-installing it. reboot the computer. and you should get a message new devive found. and give you the option to re-install the driver for it.
Unfortunately we cannot post links for you to Obtain these Drivers, But i,d look at global.Acer.com Support and Download.

Right click on the CD/DVD drive (Usually D drive ) click on properties and select and choose the recording option. Click the enable CD recording for this drive option

DVD driver and handycam dvds

None at all - the DVD player has a chipset that is incompatible with that type of disk.
Check the player manual for the disk types it can handle
