Motorola V8 Keypad

My new V8 was working fine but now seems to have developed a problem when texting. With predictive on or off, the keypad does not respond to the correct number of presses and is either ultra sensitive or not sensitive enough i.e just pressing the '4' key once skips the letter 'G' and jumps to 'I'. Similarly, the space key doesn't work unless you hammer it about six times?

I have the same issue... It worked finew for the first month and now it is worthless almost.

I am so glad there are others that have this same issue. My V8 luxury edition has sometimes unresponsive keys, keys that stick, when I press the 5 I get number 7, when I try texting the letters "jkl" I get "pqrs". When I am scrolling through my contacts using the down directional key it always skips to the letter "t", not too mention when I doing any kind of searching inputing letters, when I scroll down it ends up in the "t's". Using this phone for three months and now I am thinking about changing phones. Motorola USA wont help since the phone in not a US market version, and they will not repair it at my own expense since they claim the software has a hardware component which they cannot claim liability for.

Same problem - had one replacement after the Carphone Warehouse (UK) failed to 'repair' it. Few months on and the same fault again with the replacement. Once again, Carphone Warehouse failed to repair it, so on my 3rd V8. Like the phone, but there is obviously a critical keypad problem which I assume Motorola must know about (and repaired on later produced versions?). Take it back to shop and get them to replace it!

Hi, i have had the same problem with my V8. I have had it replaced already (bought Nov 2007) and its driving me nuts as its still not letting me text correctly, that is, buttons not working and then adding too many charaters etc!

Have had v3's before and similar faults with them and also the screen going blank too (v3's).

My V8 started playing up about a month ago with the keypad sticking e.g. producing a string of 1111111 irrespective of how careful I was. It now produces random inappropriate letters and numbers making texting a complete nightmare. It's 11 months old so it's going back. A shame cos it's such a good phone in other respects.

i have the same problem... i found that u live through it as long as possible, then u turn the phone's battery save mode "OFF" and it will speed up again for a little while. then once it starts to lag again, delete all of the text messages. once that starts to fail on u, plug it into ur PC as a storage device and do a virus scan and defrag it and it will speed up for a while then lag again unfortunately :\... im on my 5th replacement Razr2 V8 from tmobile since June..... because of the keypad issue...

How do i edit a contact and how do i turn on predictive text. thankyou

Well in contacts app when you open an contact (pressing your finger on the screen on place where the contact is lol :) ) and press a context menu button (it looks like on your device, there is an option to edit contact8_14_2011_11_48_33_am.jpgAnd for predictive text, it depends if you use Swype or other keypad. You find them in Settings->Locale Setting, if you select swype you will see an option to turn word prediction, for Samsung keypad there is an option called XT9, and for Gingerbread keypad there is an option at the end of menu to Show suggestions. If this is helpful thumb me up :).

My blitz doesnt text

Try this. Touch Keypad simulates a wireless phone keypad on the touch screen to allow you to enter text, numbers, and symbols just as if you were using a wireless phone keypad. Touch Keyboard simulates a 20-key QWERTY (typewriter) keyboard on the touch screen to allow you to enter text, numbers, and symbols similar to the way you would using a QWERTY keyboard. To use Touch Keypad or Touch Keyboard:  In a program, tap the Input Selector arrow, and then tap Touch Keypad or Touch Keyboard. To type lowercase letters, tap the keys on the dial pad or keyboard. To type a single uppercase letter, tap the Shift key and then tap the corresponding key. To type all uppercase letters, tap the Shift key twice. To change back to all lowercase letters, tap again. To enter a space after the word, tap the Space key. To start a new line, tap the Enter key. To backspace and delete a single character in any input mode, press the Back key. To open the Symbol pad, tap the Symbol key. To change the input mode:  Tap the Input mode key to switch to a different input mode: XT9 (predictive), Multitap (abc), or Numeric (123).

Hope this helps, let me know if this works or if I can help you with anything else.
