This sounds like a burned out backlight lamp. Had that happen to a Mac laptop used at work: all the boot-up LEDs and sounds occurred, but a dark screen. It was fixed promptly by our computer guy, who is pretty amazing at fixing computers. So all I can tell you is that it shouldn't be a particularly expensive repair.

Sounds like the screen voltage has been gone very low than normal. This might happen, if the CRT base socket have any damage. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. Surf the site in "MOSAIC" view. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
There are mainly two reasons for this fault. The first one is with its screen voltage settings. If the screen voltage settings have gone down [it can be happen automatically in rare cases], the screen will look dark. The second one is with its video output section itself. Anyway, you have to seek an experienced service technicians' help in this matter, if you are not handy in electronics.
you have a high voltage arching problem. the crt has about 33000. (thirty three thousand) volts on it. the anode lead is arching to the chassis(ground) around the crt(picture tube). the anode lead is the big red wire on the very top of back of crt. with the back off, you will see the big red wire and it will have a suction cup about 4 inches round connecting to picture tube. unplug. silicone around suction cup. let dry for 24 hours. enjoy. you might get a little shocked even when unplugged, but wont hurt you.
This sounds like the light engine has gone bad or has dust/dirt in the light tunnel or DMD assembly. The light engine would have to be removed to check for dirt. If the engine is bad it can cost over $800 just for the engine not including shop charge. Unit would need to be taken to a repair shop to find out what is actually causing the problem.
1) Consult service manual for details.........procedure issues?
Sounds like the digital convergence unit got confused....
You may have to start all over again at default....
2) When converging a PTV, less is better ( adjustments) unless
you are positive adjustments will yield some improvement..

If ti blinks three times, then it may be an issue with the flyback transformer. It's called "three strikes"...it tries three times to come on, and after that enters a safety shutdown mode to protect the TV. Might need to have a professional shop take a look at it.
