Don't know what my password is?

Password to acess your router configuration is set by the Internet Service provider, there are some passwords that are default but are not guaranteed to work. Try the following:
  • Login with preset password: admin.
  • Or change password: click "I forgot the password." Under question "Here's a hint for the password wedding date", click "I still can't remember the password.". Then Reset System Password by enter System Key which locate on back of the Router (like: [1234567890]), and your new password, then click "Submit"

I forgot my d-link615 username and password

Go do D-link and download a manual, Your recourse is to reset the modem and then change everything. You can use the wizard, but make sure that you hit the highlights, I attach a checklist of Items that I suggest need altering....

Wireless Router

It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below.

Things to set:

Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes.

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID.

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

a. Assign your own access code, 10 digit home or cell #. Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

4. Check that your router is set to broadcast its' presence.

I need to limit access to my linksys wlan. How do I do it?

Hi Friend,

Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the Internet Explorer and hit enter. Do not type anything in username and type admin in password(only if you have not set the router password).

Now click Access Restrictions tab. Click Enable and restrict the acess according to your need.

I would like to restrict my sons internet access on his laptop

You can set these setting on the laptop it self
look at help files per brand of laptop for operating system /Network /policy setting You need to be an admin on the laptop or desktop OR make yourself the admin under control panel user properties
its possible to resrict the use of network to specific times or lengths

control panel/administrative tool/ local security policies IP security

get in there and look around you can set parameters of use and such.

Firewall - access control settings

Short set of instructions on page 50

I'm still fooling around with it, but what I did to restrict access from my kid's machineto the internet was, browse to the router config page, default for my Belkin router is http://192.168.2.1 . Click Access Control on the menu, enable it, enter a password (this is separate from your router admin password), click the "Add" button, chose the system I wanted to restrict, specify the days and time I wanted to restrict (though I would like more flexibility here to select more than one time range), on the Service tab, verified that "Block All Services" was selected, on the URL List tab, verified that "Block all URLs" was selected, then clicked the "Apply Changes" button.

Need wep key i am trying to install a wireless printer and have no idea what the wep key is for my router. how do i find this out? thanks

Go to your wireless router software, log in, and click on the security setting section. Create a WEP key by providing a secret code or password that restricts access to the network.
It can be anything ya want, as long as it is same at "Both ends" IE: when ya try to acess, connect to the Network/Router, from say a lappy, ya gonna get asked for ya" WEP Key" < READ "Password".. So ya type in the number/password ya first chose and put into the router. You generally only have to do this once and it will remember the setting for future access.
