I have an old creative sound card Model No: CT4780 EMU10k1-SFF I need it's driver software which can help me for sound and it must be supported with Windows vista or Windows 7. Thanks 8ball

Forget it. There are no drivers for Vista or 7.
You might just find one for XP, but I guess you dont have xp.

How do you have a MB running Vista that does not have a sound chip built in?
If you need a compatible vista sound card I would suggest a cheap new one. Try Ebay.

The hard disk from the laptop has died - something to be expected on a laptop this old.
Extremely easy to fix - just buy a new hard disk, put it in the laptop and install whatever version of Windows you like.

Windows Vista doesn't recognize cable

XP & Vista require different drivers to run hardware devices.
Visit the Vista compatibility site to determine if your hardware is compatible, by clicking here,
or visit the manufacturer's website to see if there are updated drivers and firmware available for Vista that you can download and install.
Another possibility is to visit Windows Update and run a custom scan with the cable attached and see if you are offered a hardware update for your system that would make it work, but this seems unlikely in the case of a cable...
Good luck!

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Which drivers used when install vista in compaq Sg2044il

Don't upgrade unless you are planning on installing a new graphics board (VGA). The specs on this PC show that it has an Intel 865G graphics solution. There are no Vista drivers for this chip-set. It is possible that the XP drivers will work but I wouldn't count on it. Probably the same goes for the sound board. Not worth it. Besides that XP is better than Vista anyway. If you want to upgrade, wait for Windows 7 to be released, then take the money you would have spent on this PC and put it towards a new core2 duo or core2 quad. According to the beta testing, Windows 7 will be MUCH better than Vista. I think the release date supposed to be sometime around the middle of 2009? Don't quote me on that. Hope this helped. If so, please remember to rate me. Thanks.

I cant install windows xp on my computer

Hi :-).

OK. You say that "You can't put it on", so by this I presume that there was previously an Operating System on your Machine? If so, was it Windows XP or Windows Vista?
If you had Windows Vista on there, but did not like the look and feel of it, and decided to remove it so that you can put Windows XP on there, then it's a lot more trickier to format Drives that have been shipped out with Windows Vista OEM, then what it would be normally.
If your Laptop had XP on there, but for one reason or another, it needed to be reinstalled, then let me know and I'll try and help you out a bit more based on the answer you reply with.

I have a toshiba satellite a205-5000 laptop it came with Vista, I want to put XP Pro instead, but it doesn't find the drive when you install. What do I need to do?

Hi, its because its a new laptop, you have a sata hard drive in the laptop which requires sata drivers to install older versions like windows xp, only problem is none of the companys are releasing the drivers to put xp on them, so im afraid your stuck with vista on it. due to the sata hard drive.

All the best

Windows Vista Business vs XP

Vista is a huge change for you then. I understand your frustration.

It really just depends on what your used to, your PC specs,etcs..

You do not need to buy a new computer just to have XP.

What you can do is erase Vista off the new sony, and install XP. I can help guild you if you like, on the phone it's almost a 1-3 hour talk. Depending on your experience etc..

It's an easy process downgrading to XP, all you need is:
1.A XP Disk.(The Windows XP Operating System Disk)

That's it, you get that and we can down grade your Sony to XP.

I recommend people get vista for a secondary PC like have a desktop that you do your work on, and if you have a laptop get vista on it as your personal computer. But on the desktop being your work keep it as is.

Let us know what you decide,

Thanks and I hope this helps,
