I assume the above problem is on all DVD's. Generally speaking, dialogue soundtrack is located in the Front Center speaker. From your description of the problem I would double check all the wiring to the front center speaker you have connected to your audio system. If there is no front center speaker, check to see how your audio system is set to handle the front center speaker . . . it should be set to "Phantom" or "none". On the other hand you're relying just on your TV speakers and you're not getting any dialog I would change, under the Settings of the DVD player, the Digital Out settings to PCM.

I have an Audiosonic 5.1 CH DVD player and followed the instructions to connect to the TV but can not get proper sound. I hear the background noises but not the main dialogue

It sounds like you have a type of surround sound or theater sound system going on, and you may be hooking up the surround sound instead of the main audio output.

Is there subtitles instead of the dialogue? Sorry, may be an obvious thing that you have already checked.

I can only hear the background music and not the dialog what is wrong

Do you have the left AND right channel hooked up to the back of your tv? Sometimes your dialog may come through one channel and the music from the other depending on what kind of telesvision you are using. Try that and then make sure you don't just have your player set to do close captioning and have the vocal dialogue shut off.

Picture fine but no sound

go to the menu and to the setup and go to sound...make sure that the right format is selected for the movie and that the right output is selected for the output your using....if the sound is intermittand you more than likely have dry solder joins on the board...to fix this you ned to disconnect the unit from the mains and remove all screws to open the unit up and then take out the PCB and screw holding the RCA blocks and remove and use a soldering iron and solder to re-solder all connection points between to RCA array and the PCB
hope this helps,ben

DVD player not showing a picture.

Check/replace the cables or use a different cable. If you are using RCA connectors, try the Scart connection or a coxial if available.

Emerson dvd player - background sound lauder than dialogue

Greetings surfjax,

If you will allow me to make an assumption, you do not have a 5.1 surround system connected to your DVD player. This is a common experience with users of a standard TV or stereo receiver if a movie is being presented in 5.1.

In a surround sound system the center channel speaker provides almost all the vocal tracks while the side channels will provide music and some background noises. You'll still be able to hear the voices in your side speakers, but it will be muted and over powered by music or sound effects.

Some DVD players allow you to "Downmix" the surround signal to stereo. You might want to look around your sound setup on the DVD player or check your owners manual.

Hope this helps.

check your connections. My PS2 does the same thing. The connection on the rear is touchy. Sometimes the sound will be garbled.

Sound

I have sometimes hoad this problem when I had the audio mode set incorrectly. The dialogue comes through the center channel and that's where it gets lost. I had to cycle through (I believe) the 3D phonic setting to get it right. Check the fine print in the owner's manual.

Hope this helps.
