How do you remove the top off the washing machine to replace the lid switch in a kenmore super capacity 80 series?

the lid switch under the control panels bad replace it and it will again wash,they just unsnap out of the top of the cabinet after you remove the control panel

I need to replace the lid switch on a Kenmore 80 series top load washer with the model #11082980120. How do I get the lid off?

Hello, Your problem is going to be with your lid switch, this is located normally either in the control panel or about half way down on the right side under the lid. This is a safety feature to stop you opening the lid while the machine is in a high spin. Once you have located the switch trace the wires back to the wire harness in the control panel. Disconnect the lid switch from the wire harness and with an ohms meter check for condinuity on pin 1 & 3 (the 2 outside pins not the middle this is a ground) You should find you have no condinuity and should replace this switch. Check the lid switch under the edge of the top where the lid closes. When you are about 1 inch from closing the lid you should here a little click sound. That is the switch closing. I fyou do not here the click then the switch is bad.

Screws holding the lid switch was broken. Had to replace lid switch.

does it drain?did you check the lid switch?

You need to replace the Kenmore Washer Lid Switch. I had the same problem so being lazy I would just push down on the washer's lid and it would push the lid switch further down. making the water drain. after a while I just replaced the lid switch.

Check to make sure your lid switch is working.
