Make sure your system has proper ventilation. The system might be filled with dust preventing it for cooling properly. The cooling fan might have failed and you need to replace it. You might want to have the thermal interface paste (TIM) replaced on your heat sinks located above your CPU and GPU.
Hi,well yur problem is not new.i gues u have played a lot and lot of games in the past in yur ps2 and tht is why mod-chip device is been damaged.It's a serious problem.If u'll not replace yur mod-chip now thn your playstation2 will be damaged soon.u live in india and mod-chip will cost around RS-300.

The eye in the tray might be scratched or damaged. This happens with age and the way the Playstation has been setting as well. It is more likely to wear out faster when it is standing upright. Try to play a movie or a game with the playstation in the horizontal way. If not the eye could possibly be damaged beyond repair.
Sorry to tell you this but EA is starting what a lot of other game publishers are going to start doing. They are stopping their support for PlayStation 2 since it is a last generation console. Now a days its all about the X-box 360 and play station 3. They are just not funding the servers for the last generation console and soon other will follow untill the playstaion 2 is no more.
Other Sims do not show porblems running on the PS3. The Sims 2:Castaways are not listed as compatible at this time. Although it probably will work fine since it is newly released. The graphics may not look exactly right.
