I have the nav net 1723 and I was out on the boat this weekend and a friend was messing with the buttons when it was in radar mode and after that everything on the monitor was reading opposite. Objects were projected on the screen 180 degrees off. I tried to troubleshoot it but no luck. any help would be appreciated

Ais and 1920c Furuno chart plotter

n the system setup, under “UNITS” I set BEARING to “MAG” (magnetic). This will cause the unit to display course / bearing information in relation to the Magnetic North and match magnetic compass readings. It is not the same as True North! One has to be careful with this setting. There are a number of areas where the earth's magnetic field is locally disturbed, sometimes very significantly. Your GPS may not account for it. - again, under “UNITS” I set “METRIC”.

Press and hold the alarm key whilst powering up. Also try it with the clear key while powering up again.

My furuno navnet vx2 periodically freezes during operation and must be restarted. Any suggestions?

Reinstall the operating software. The unit should probably go to Furuno.
Try operating it with only a GPS connected (no radar, no network). If this resolves it, it is almost certainly software. It could be low voltage or failing mother board.

I have been doing some research and I haven’t been able to determine if the Garmin has a compatible output for your Furuno. I can not recommend any service center particularly since I have no idea where you are located, but any good marine shop should be able to help you.

The Furuno uses NMEA Inputs for the GPS, and like I said I haven’t been able to determine if that Garmin uses that as an output. I would suggest that you inspect your installation to determine if there are any cableing between the two units. If no wires connect the two that you can be sure that the units are not communicating.

As far as the chartplotter goes you can buy data cards for them, either on-line or from a good marine supply store.
