Problem With Xbox 360 Color Depth

Hi,

I just started having issues with what looks to be the color depth on my 360. It worked fine this morning and now I see aliased gradient lines. I've tried all the obvious solutions. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

- Jesse

I'm having exactly the same problem, beginning last night. Have tried it on different TV sets, and with different cables (HDMI & component) and the same happens. Weirdly, it's fine for around 5 minutes after I turn the console on, then it suddenly 'clicks' into this strange colour mode, where there are no gradients of colour - just blocks of it that don't blend into each other.

It's like on a PC when you turn the colours to 16 bit. Any suggestions?

... thanks for the suggestions but I fixed my problem a while ago... I bought the Xbox 360 Elite and have had no problems yet.

I'm Katom from Israel from couple of posts before, MS told me to send it to them but I'll need to pay for the repair, the costs of sending it and repairing it will cost about 60% of a new one, and I heard they send you a refurbished one which some say get the red ring after a week or so, so get yourself a new one like I did, it's much cheaper that way.

I was playing GTA and the screen had like a weird green hue to it and I was playing on a HD tv with HD turned on. I let it cool down then I tried again it was fine but the sound was weak like I would have the volume on my TV and the Pistol would sound like a Nerf gun. I switched it to Regular TV The sound was on but it wasnt HD :( The green came back when I was playing Resident evil 5 which I rented from Blockbuster. Afew days later I turned it on and No picture or sound on Regular TV and HD TV modes. I dont think I got a warranty so I might send it to the 360-Pros since I live near them. Heres a link. I have tried different "ports" in my TV and still no luck. My friend thinks its my a/v Cable and says he will bring his spare cable over to my house and fix it for $10.00. Please Help.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

There is no color when playing games

If you are using the RCA out puts one of your connections is probably bad. I could just be loose or the wire could be broken. If you are using HDMI make sure the plug is lugged STRAIGHT in and not at an angle and fully plugged in. The color components are on different pins so all must me fully in contact at both ends of the cable. Same for VGA, make sure ALL pin have full contact.

If you get colors otherwise but not during games them you may have color depth issue with your monitor but I doubt that since that is usually detected automatically.

The menu started flickering on and off and the color resolution depth has faded.

Ah, the Ol' menu flickers, and depth of color fading trick.
I remember back in '69 when.............

WHAT! !O_O!

Monitor is going bad. Believe it to be the monitor's internal power supply.
Suggest replace monitor.

My computer cannot play any tracks and the screen resolution setings is not woking and the color depth84@yahoo.com

I'm assuming by playing tracks you mean music. Check that your volume is up and not muted, check to see if the soundcard works with headphones as it could be a speaker issue (make sure they're powered on). Try re-installing the soundcard drivers... if your color depth is also very low it sounds like either the PC booted into safe mode due to a previous issue (rebooting may resolve, if prompted select normal startup) or worse you've lost some drivers for whatever reason... reinstalling this could get everything back the way it was. If it's just a color issue, right clicking on your desktop and choosing properties to change the resolution and color depth will fix... assuming you're using windows.

My computer says i need to change my color depth, how do i do so?

You can change the color depth by right clicking on the desktop, click on properties, click on settings. You will see something as color quality, you can change it, thats also known as color depth.

Restart at 32 bit depth color

Use System Failure Settings to Stop Automatic Restarts.

1. Click Start and Open the Control Panel
2. Go to System.
3. Select Advanced Tab and then go down to Startup and Recovery.
4. Settings then uncheck the Automatically Restart.

Try that and see if you can sort it out from there. Hope this helps!
